Would anyone be able to tell me a price range if not a specific price for a Locke solitaire e-ring setting?

I asked this the other day and it depends on the size, but I was told around $1800.

I''m looking at Locke''s myself. What''s their reputation like?

Hi Fashionsweetie ~

When Matatora first posted her delish

new ring from Locke's, I immediately emailed them. They were very prompt and replied within 24 hours.

They will not set just any diamond, it will have to pass their standards before setting into their signature setting.

I emailed what information I had on my diamond that I bought from Jonathan @ GOG, (Sarin, Helium, Bscope, H&A pics, etc.) and they would set it for me in 18K WG Size 10 1/2 for *$1,000.00. My diamond is .72 J SI1. They will build the setting for your specific diamond, so if you might want to upgrade in the future ... that means a entirely new ring would need to be made. (*With gold & plat. prices sky high right now ... the quote might be different if I called or emailed today versus when Matatora posted her pics.)

I do believe that with this solitaire, a band will not sit flush ... I just don't know how much of a space there will be.

It is a gorgeous setting, and the surprise diamonds are delicate and beautiful.

Congrats and good luck ... The setting is definately "Jaw~dropping" yummy!

hi Fashionsweetie,

I am getting a Locke''s setting (I''m pretty sure but it is ultimately up to the Fiance'') for my ring and they do custom make it based on your diamond. The quote we received for an 1.81 diamond in platinum for a 3.5 ring size was around $1750. Sunkist is also planning on getting the Locke''s setting I believe and she received a quote of $1650 for hers-- you can find details of her post in the following thread with a white gold quote as well I believe:

https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/larger-set-or-loose.46051/

The price range is dependent on the size of your ring and size of your stone. They have been very responsive thus far and it sounds like Matatora has been very pleased with their service and quality from her posts on PS. They do have to approve your stone but they just need your AGS/GIA cert to do that.

oh sorry, I forgot to post that Locke''s have assured me that a wedding band will sit flush with the signature solitaire setting.

DL

Is there a website that shows the engagement rings? Would love to see them. Heard the quality is wonderful but have not been able to find any pictures.

Thanks

hi Doglover4,

Take a look at the link Blueroses posted above and you will see plenty of photos that Matatora took of her beautiful Locke''s setting.

Without rereading all of Mat's pages, does anyone know how many mm wide the band is?

Did they say how long it would take to make the setting once the stone was sent to them?

I wonder if Matatora has tried on bands with the ring. I'd like to see how they look with it.

When I asked about the width, Locke''s told me that it''s 2.5mm wide and it will take 2 weeks or so to make the setting once they receive your stone.

Yeah, I also wondered how that setting looks with a wedding band but haven''t seen Matatora on PS much lately.

DL

Thanks, DL. I am a terrible decision-maker, but I do love this setting. My big dilemma is whether my homeowners insurance will cover the stone while it is being set. (Of course, the stone is still not definite at this point, so I can''t actually insure it yet anyway!)

I love 2.5mm...that is perfect...thin but substantial at the same time.

I also would love to see the Lockes signature solitaire with various bands. If I remember correctly, Matatora had said she tried on wedding bands with it, but that there was a tiny tiny gap in between the e-ring and w-ring. Does anyone else remember her saying that?

Also, the website for Lockes is http://www.lockesdiamonds.com/. The only pic that I''ve found on their website of the signature solitaire setting is under "Education", then "Engagement Ring Guide". Mat''s pictures offer much more than their website!

I personally like a little gap! I am sure it would be very small judging from the picture. I think the thickness of the wedding band will be an issue, though, and that is why I''d love to see it with some bands. Maybe I''ll call Lockes and ask if they could make some pictures for us!

I just called my insurance, and according to the person on the phone, they WILL cover a stone before it is set. I just have to fax the appraisal to them and then send another once it is set to cover the setting.

I''ll try and call Lockes now.

they will cover it? wow that''s great DS.
I asked ours and they said no or else it''s so much cheaper than going the Jewelers Mutual route.

Photos would be GREAT!

Well, I was really doubtful when I called, but the lady did not act like it was a big deal. She said to fax her the appraisal on the stone and then she'd fax it to the underwriting dept. for approval. So it should be pretty quick. Our homeowners is with Liberty Mutual, which is a very big company. So others might want to know this.

I just called Lockes, and Mat's salesperson is no longer there. I spoke with Karina and she was familiar with the PS connection! She said she would try to get us a picture or two of the ring with a diamond band! So it'll probably be at least tomorrow before it comes. I'll post as soon as I get it.

Oh, and she said the w-ring would sit very close but not 100% flush. This is fine with me because I don't want it to look like one fat ring.

Oooh yaaay!!! I would love to see pics with a diamond band! Thanks for calling about that ds2006! Can''t wait for the pics!

What?? Darrin is not there anymore!? No wonder he never replied to my emails! It would have been nice if they had someone else take over his clients and emails.

Anyways, I''m so excited that they agreed to take some photos of the ring for you! I asked Darrin to, but he said they were only allowed to share that standard pic of it that''s on their website, this is what he gave me. Post them asap!!

I''ve been dealing with Maria, the manager at Locke''s, and she''s been great so work with her if you need someone now that Darrin is gone.

DL

Yes, they told me that Darrin is no longer there. I find that odd as well that they did not give his clients to someone else. Karina said that they do not have pictures available, but that she''d email the corporate office to see if they have any (because they photograph finished rings) and she also said that if they didn''t have any, she''d bring her own digital camera and take a couple for us. I told her I''d post them on PS since there are several of us interested in that setting. I figure they don''t mind the publicity!

Okay, here is a picture with a plain band. I had asked about diamond bands specifically and emailed Karina back to ask. I am concerned about where shared-prong set diamonds might hit the e-ring or whether a channel set band might be too thick with it. This diamond is 1.34 cts.

Lockeswithband.jpg

Here is Karina's reply about diamond bands with the Lockes solitaire:

"We also tried this with a channel set band and it sat nicely next to our signature solitaire. Our jewelers designed our solitaire so it does not sit high but allows a wedding band to sit comfortably next to it. I actually have a number of clients that have Lockes signature solitaire with a diamond wedding band and they are very happy : )"

I think it the two bands look nice and the tiny gap wouldn''t bother me. that said, it might not be the setting for someone wanting a perfectly flush set.

That''s really helpful Diamondseeker! Thanks for the photo. The small gap won''t really bother me (I don''t think) but I am somewhat annoyed that the manager ASSURED me more than once that it sits flush with a wedding band. If we didn''t have this photo and I ended up with this set with the goal of having a flush set and based it on her assurance, I''d be quite upset with this gap.
11.gif

But yeah, if you are planning on having a diamond band, I''d also be concerned with where it might rub up against each other. Hopefully she is able to send a photo the setting with a diamond band as well.

Yes, they don''t realize that we are very serious with our terminology here! Flush does not mean small gap! Although, this looks good enough for me personally.

DL, are you planning to get this setting right away? I''d love to see another one. My problem is that I bought an antique channel set band from Signed Pieces last week, so I need to know within 30 days if it will work with an e-ring! So I do have some time pressure to make a decision.

My bf is planning on getting the stone set right away once the insurance is in place, loose stone appraisal, etc. However, I have NO idea when he is planning on proposing. See what I mean about being impatient and at least you have a ring on your finger to keep you company until your upgrade?
28.gif

I''ve been taking lots of photos of my loose stone bc, as I tell him when he makes fun of me, that''s all I''ll have to keep me company until who knows when I get the completed ring.

Ah ha! I see, DL! Well, we''ll certainly look forward to the proposal story and PICS!!!
