LIW...would you rather have a $35k E-ring or a $35k wedding?

Okay, I am not a LIW, but I''d want half for the ring and half for the wedding!

Interesting topic. I have tiny fingers (size 2.5), so I don''t think I''d be able to lift it up with a 35K ring. My dream ring would cost around 5K max. So I''d rather have a 35K wedding.

If I had a 35K budget for a ring, wedding, and honeymoon, I''d spend 5K on the ring, 20K on the wedding, and 10K on the honeymoon. Or maybe 15K wedding and 15K honeymoon.

If it was a contest, then the $35K wedding. I personally think that 35K for one day is a waste, but if it''s free, fine. That way I can elope and have a big party for my friends at no cost to me

.

If I took the 35K ring, I would sell it, buy a reasonable ring (5-7K), then use the rest for our new home!

Hmm... now that I think about it, I guess I should take the ring... I want a house more than a wedding and big party!

I''d take the ring over the wedding for sure. I don''t have much interst in a massive expensive party. A massive expensive ring however....can be enjoyed everyday of your life

BF read this over my shoulder and said he''s take a 35k car instead.

Not a LIW either, but I''d definitely pick the ring, although DS''s half and half sounds good to me too.

Having done a wedding for 200 guests, if I were to renew our vows, I'd do a small private affair for about 30 people (only nearest and dearest relatives and closest dearest friends) and spend $5-10k on that, the rest I'd spend upgrading my current ering!

Definitely the ring. I didn''t care about having a big wedding - we had a small (12 people) destination wedding on a cliff overlooking the ocean in Bermuda. DH bought me an expensive ring, and I splurged on my dress, but I had no interest in buying hundreds of people dinner.

Definately the ring... a wedding only lasts one day but the ring you can keep forever.

Definitly the ring! But what if we had the choice for a $35k honeymoon? Now that would be a tough
decision!

(BTW - I''m not a LIW...I''m an old married fart)

Oh I agree with this 100%, sadly no one else agreed with me about the wedding part. So you could almost say I am attending my own wedding somewhat against my will.

The ring--no question! I would enjoy and treasure it for the rest of my life, and while wedding memories are wonderful, it is just one day in a marriage that will last ''til death do us part.

If the choice is only between the 2, a ring for sure. Diamonds are forever, you know.

um. 35K on "wedding" (which, i think HONEYMOON is classed in wedding expenses right?)
if i could have it my way, i''d spend 5K on the ring though, i mean free money IS free money right?
