Hi,

Hoping to get a little help on my search. Looking for a princess cut (square is the requirement, but all I’m seeing is princess, which is fine). At least 1.5, was initially thinking H, VS2 or higher, but I’m pretty lost at this point. I was offered a

G, VS2,
6.47 X 6.33 x4.59
1.59
depth 72.5%
table 74%
thin to very thick girdle
polish very good
symmetry good
no florescence
asking about $8,900

I realize numbers aren’t to live or die by but the problem is I can’t really tell a difference from one stone to the next unless they’re all right in front of me. Does this stone have the fire that the I color stone with better proportions has that I saw yesterday? Beats me – they’re all shiny as far as I can tell.

Guess I’m asking what y’all think of the above stone, along w/any other valuable tidbits.

Many thanks!

This is one of the reasons why I suggest consumers find a few jewelers whose opinions they trust, and ask them to recommend stones. Check out the "Show Me the Ring" area and briefly look through the archives and identify 2-3 vendors who sound good. Then let their eyes do the walking for you.

There are also, if you want to shop online, a few other kinds of square cuts.

Asscher (not as sparkly, kinda art deco look)

Jubilee (no corners, as sparkly as a round brilliant) -- I don't know of anyone who has these except for GoodOldGold right now

Regent (sparkly, "crushed glass" chaotic look)

and more, but these are the ones I've seen people raving about.

Thx for the thoughts. Anyone have any comments on the rock i described above? i may snag it tomorrow.

Also, having been in a half dozen stores saying I'd like to look at any 'square' cuts in my range, all i've seen are princesses. no box radient, not one ascher... why is that?

thanks again.
