I was looking at an old post of ana''s and she said that this particular fancy "should achieve at least 70% of a RBC''s light return" and I was wondering if that''s true? If there is a certain percentage of light relative to what a round returns for various cuts or at the very least, is there a way to TELL what percentage of light a stone is returning relative to a round? Now, I know all rounds have slightly different returns themselves, but ROUGHLY is there anything to this?

Sara you know there is a lgiht return meter in Gem Adviser that tells you how much light is returned from face up, from rocking thru 30 degreees and the same as all those but to both eyes.

If you have not downloaded and used it then you must hold out your hand knuckles up for a rap.

A very good Tolkowsky round has a score of 1.0

Many nice fancies get up to and above 0.8

Bad stones can be under 0.50 or less than 50% light return by comparison.

And a file to play with is attached to this post

I have gem adv. just not diamcalc. I even have a scan of my diamond.... but I didn''t see anything in it on amount of light return....??

is this the radiant file you posted last week? I loved that stone! I''m on the wrong computer for downloading this.... gemadvisor doesn''t work well on my laptop. I''ll check it out later :) So.... fancies should return 70-80% of the light a round does?

The leakage on this stone adjoins a dark head obstruction zone - so what you would see is a very large dak zone - and that would be very easily identifyable - so it might score about 0.60 (bad)
