...sorry for the bad rhyme..it's all I could think of to rhyme w/ liar...

Look what's for sale on E-Bay...I can't take credit for finding it..'almagh' did...

look all the way down...at the pictures and the cert...

Why is this a lie?

Maybe I'm wrong - and if so - I apoligize in advance..but if you check out "just engaged" in show me the ring - you'll read this story about how this stone was inherited from the fiance's grandmother - the pictures are the same - the measurements are identical...seems a little too coincidental to me...maybe I'm just skeptical

Just imagine if SHE ISNT THE ONE THAT LIED!!!

I sure wouldnt want to be her "EX"boyfriend

I thought of that too - but it's still for sale - he couldn't have given "won" the auction yet...

Wow, it is the same ring.

weird thing is the auction runs from 3/9 to 3/19 - and she posted on 2/27...maybe there are two of them - rings that is - with the exact measurements...

Let's hope we are missing something here - it's a pretty sad statement if we're not...

Bought from the same seller using the same pictures. But then it wouldn't be the grandmothers!

Yeah - I kinda thought that too - but it's still for sale - until 3/19 - unless it was a 'buy it now' purchase - but then it wouldn't be still for sale...

Hmm...Smells like somebody's pants are on fire.

Wow, Almagh and Icelover, you have sharp eyes! I can't believe TerpLover would make up such an elaborate story. For that matter, TerpLover is probably from Maryland which is where I live. Ugh, I'm embarrassed that we live in the same state!!!!

It's obviously the same ring. There is a "buy it now" option. The seller presumably has more than one of these or is using the same GIA cert to sell several different rings none of which may actually match the cert. Something is pretty wrong here.

Anybody think Terplover will have any response?

I thought of that (several of the same piece) - but she indicated 'he inherited it from his grandmother' - and she posted pics of the ring she 'can't stop staring at' - yet they are the same pics on e-bay...strange...very strange..not to mention in her post, 'And yes, in my haste of posting specs I did make two typos, it is SI2 and 3.54 carats (I had them read to me over the phone by his mother who still has the cert).'

her last post was on 3/7 - maybe they broke up on 3/7 or 3/8, he brokered his grandmothers stone (that he inherited, and she gave back when they broke up) on 3/8 to the jewelers in NY and on 3/9 they posted the auction...it all makes sense ya know...

works for me.

file this one under strange things that happen on the net and call the x-files :}

Scully and Moulder would be able to explain it...I just know they could...maybe the Marlboro man had something to do w/ it....

I do a routine search on ebay for "DVatche" every week or so. As soon as I saw those pictures in the auction, I knew I had seen them before. After I posted the link here it did cross my mind that she might not know and I would have felt terrible about it. But, as someone else mentioned if she posted the pictures then I think she must know. I have been reading this forum regularly for almost a year in preparation for a ten year anniversary upgrade. I never felt that I had anything to add until now. It is a strange swing of emotions to go from envying someone who received my dream ring to pity and bewilderment.

Shall we email TerpLover in case she's not aware that she has been snagged?

I also noticed she signed her posts 'Brooke' - check out her profile - her name indicates 'Kristen'

This is SO sad

She used the auction photos and everything so she MUST know it's not an enherited ring, but an eBay one instead (if even she actually owns this ring)! Sounds like she needs attention. . .but, why, I ask would someone do something like THIS? It's not like we KNOW her or anything and can be impressed in any deep meanful way.

Hmmmm. . .makes me wonder how many people make up silly diamond stories here. I bet this happens more often than not. Oh, this reminds me, I have a new 2 carat D VVS1 to post

I thought some of the same things you did...sad huh?....who knows why she did it. But it seems pretty clear. Oh yeah, did I mention I got a 3 stone ring - 3.5ct IF pink diamond w/ 2 - 1.50ct IF/D's...I almost forgot - they are all H&A.

I don't want to be mean - but it is kinda funny that she would do that...if it's even a "she" from Maryland - for all we know it's a he from Mexico.

You are right, Icelover, she is definitely from Mexico. There are no nutty people here in Maryland!

Lock your doors and arm the MD borders - that goes beyond nutty - to plain ole' psycho - making up the story about the stone being inherited, uploading pics of the ring - implying it was her hand, when it's obviously a model...this is goofy psycho DL - just too goofy for me...I'm going downstairs to lock the door - and contact the State police to guard our borders here in CT too - we have enough problems w/ our politicians - we certainly don't need her here too....

How totally weird. I read the post you were talking about. I actually thought the engagement story was kind of strange, since when do they allow adults to walk around the halls of high schools.

If you believe her story, I have a bridge I would like to sell you.
It is very sad that she got so many people involved in and excited about her engagement. She even asked for help in selecting a wedding band. I can't believe that, after she posted all those pictures, she would not have checked back and seen all the responses. If she has not replied by now, I think one can assume that she has a really great imagination.

she has checked back a time or two and posted in her reply..but not since this all surfaced this weekend.

again, there could be many sides to this. also her last few posts were asking for assistance finding a wedding ring to match. i have the hardest time believing someone would go through all that trouble if they were lying. and then to check back only sporadically? if she really needed all that attention, wouldn't she be on here more often refreshing the post? time will tell!

I thought that was weird too. Even if they didn't mind, what did the school do, clear out some poor kid's locker? Plus the combinations are usually changed year to year, if the kids don't supply their own locks.

Well, I just wanted to let you all know that I got a 2 carat engagement ring.
