Hello all,
Been a member for a bit so I could drool over all the beautiful diamonds. Well I decided to jump on the LGD bandwagon and although I'm in love with the diamond & ring I have a concern. Why does in look sorta dark grayish/bluish in certain lighting? Is it due to the K color or the cut ? It scored a 1 on the HCA or is there another issue. Im attaching pics hopefully you see what I see. I purchased the ring from a well know online jeweler that starts with letter R (wasn't sure if I could post name)IMG_4834 (1).JPGIMG_4839.jpgIMG_4956.jpgIMG_4755.PNGIMG_4970.jpgIMG_4834 (1).JPGIMG_4839.jpgIMG_4956.jpgIMG_4755.PNGIMG_4970.jpg

It’s absolutely lovely. Welcome to the K club! My e ring is a K and I love it. Does your diamond have fluorescence? Sometimes that can give the effect you describe.

Thank you lonysis. According to the IGI report no fluorescence

Can you provide the IGI report number and a link to the diamond on Ritani's website?

I also have a K (CVD faint brown) and it can certainly look gray or bluish at times, this color tends to be a chameleon depending on the light. Yours actually scores higher than mine on HCA (2.3) so it could be reflecting colors around it or it could just be the nature of this color.

Either way your ring is very pretty.

I tried looking on Ritani website but it's no longer there (error message) here is the IGI # LG500165010.. thanks for the help

What color is your phone case and/or the room you are in and/or your clothing when you see blue/gray?

If you love the diamond regardless, then I'd just enjoy it. I do wonder if the post-growth treatment is causing the grayish appearance in certain lighting.

Sometimes LGD in low colors show their color in grey hues as opposed to yellow hues.

Your diamond is pretty. If you like how it looks, the grey is nothing to worry about.

My case is clear but phone is green. I see it though even when my phone is not near my ring . I'm kinda thinking it's the lighting that I'm in cause sometimes super white and other times a steely gray

I’ve had lab and mined well cut diamonds go grey in certain lighting. Full sun, led lamps/spotlighting, etc. It’s a thing that happens. My lab AVC will go grey in direct sun.
The setting you chose is gorgeous!

I've come to the conclusion it's the lighting Been taking some pics in different lighting and settings I've attached a few C1A7B717-FFDF-407B-A95B-71AF48C29AC4.jpeg8A154356-3357-413C-8E6F-189C2C5F5031.jpeg658E5C25-EBFA-4E4A-A889-47D66AB3A227.jpegFE6F2D10-36D7-45DA-B1FC-00A1178FE5CD.jpeg

Yes, beautiful diamond. The changes with lighting can take some getting used to if you’re not accustomed to that. Also love the setting too :kiss2:

I recently got a 1.8 K oval from Ritani and returned it for an H because I couldn't stomach the greyish brownish tone. I consider myself not color sensitive (have a yellow tint natural diamond uncerted "L", a love for faint browns, etc) and got two 0.6ct J lab ovals at the same time that have a truly gorgeous pink brown tint.

Your diamond is very nicely cut, though, so if the color doesn't bother you, wear it in good health, it's objectively lovely on you!

Here's a picture in unflattering and more flattering light.

This is the 0.6 J with its pinkish tone.

@evergreen, the two brown pink ovals you got, were they listed as faint brown on the cert or did you just get lucky finding them?

Nope, but they were visibly pink on the Ritani images, I was thrilled it turned out that way in person. Cert just notes J color and lists CVD / type IIa. Here's the only one I saved a link for: https://www.ritani.com/products/0-6...-si2-clarity-igi-lg400998596-sku-d-2lly8miu2s -- it is not cut quite as well, and with lower clarity, than the second stone but they were visibly very well matched for color based on the website images. They were certed at the same time, so I guess they're "siblings."

If it's helpful for the OP or others considering a K, here's the Ritani listing of the diamond I returned. https://www.ritani.com/products/1-8...-si1-clarity-igi-lg445039224-sku-d-mprj0l9q0z

ETA: https://www.ritani.com/products/0-6...-vs2-clarity-igi-lg400998579-sku-d-2lly8miu2b found the link for the second 0.6ish stone! Definitely love the tint of these brown/pinks and would absolutely snap up another large stone like them.
