Hey guys! Let''s have a little fun with this asscher.. I want you to try and guess its specs
3.gif
. This is obviously a 100% fun thread, with no scientific or analytical intent whatsoever... Just a lil fun!

I will just start off by telling you the stone weighs 1.053carats, has nihil fluorescence, measures 5.72 x 5.73 x 4.04mm, with a 64.7% table, 11.3% crown, 56.5% pavilion and 70.5% depth. The girdle is thin to medium and polished.

Here''s another pic!

ooh another fun Giangi new-stone game...does the winner get a pink Prada bag?
9.gif

hmmm why not Mara? I was actually thinking about a Louis Vuitton luggage set, but I''d be glad to set off for a pink prada purse! LOL

G/I1? My guess... I know little about diamonds though.. and personally I would love it no matter what.. I think it is pretty and looks sparkly... but like I said, I know very little...

In the first picture it looks like the diamond is on a white piece of paper, in the second picture it looks like the paper is blue. What color is the paper underneath the stone?

I''m with ya on the Prada purse, but can we choose the color? I''m a basic black kinda gal.

What a fun thread. I see lots of inclusions in the first pic and think it''s a J I2?? I love Prada, any color will do!!!

My uneducated guess tells me it''s an E/SI2?! This is fun!!

Is there such a grade as SI3?? I know there was some talk about this a while ago, didn''t know if GIA had a grade of SI3 yet????

EGL has an SI3 grade, but not GIA or AGS.

Thanks Stretch. I do recall Dave Atlas debating whether GIA should or would include an SI3 grade.

Hi Giangi -- long time no see around here! Welcome back!

Fun test -- especially since we "know" that color and inclusions show more in the step cuts. Now we''ll see how much

.

Ciao

When do we find out the answer?

ETA: Whoops! Didn't realize I didnt include my vote: G/I1

Giangi as a professional i know never to make judgements without sufficient data.
This is like grading your diamond at a party after too much Montalpicino and Peroni (I had plenty of both tonite).

But i can criticise the facet structure - I prefer the corner facets to run right to the culet - this stone has 0.04ct of extra weight hidden there.

No fair, we want to know what the grading of this stone was!!!!!
31.gif

I guessed g/i1 just becuase those little black marks were so ucky to me...But it is harder for me to tell with step cuts...

Giangi is in Italy so he may be sleeping now? I''m sure he will respond tomorrow!

Haha Garry, I was waiting for your post!

The faceting pattern is slightly unusual, indeed, but I think it created a good ''''pool'''' effect... Not to mention that I loved the curiously octagonal shape, as opposed to a regular square emerald shape.

Thanks anyone for guessing... I think I will disclose the ansrew later on today.. I''d like to see a few more answers
9.gif
.
Since many asked, the first picture is magnified 20x.. So it''s pretty upclose & personal... Last tip: there isn''t really any black inclusion inside.. I guess those small spots picked up a darker shade from the loupe or the camera... But this is part of the game, so go on and guess!

The second picture gives you a very good idea of how the stone looks in real life
2.gif
. It''s a big magnified as well.

Ok. I change my vote to h SI1?

i guess E SI2
20.gif

I would normally guess SI1 H, but since this is a "Giangi" stone and I know how he picks them, I''m guessing J I2

(I''m still trying to find a round like the last I1 he posted
2.gif
)

If this helps, here''s a better picture of the stone

Hmmmm....I''m going to go with H/SI1. Nice picture David. I totally tried to cheat and see if the stone was up for sale on your website since you have a picture of it.
11.gif
But since you don''t I''m taking a guess. I woulda guessed SI3 or I1 until I read those black spots are not really on the stone. Fun game!!! Though really hard to do from a computer screen!

HEE. That is one FAB looking stone.
9.gif

What''s the answer!! What time is it in Italy right now!
32.gif

I vote E SI2.

Those photos won''t win the Pulitzer Prize, but I love these guessing games Giangi comes up with.

I''m for H/SI2.

I went w/ H SI1 assuming there''s a trick there somewhere!!

I do not care what color or clarity it is... it is awesome...
