I love the Broadway productions and thought the movie was really, really good. I might have already mentioned this earlier in this thread, but I think the movie helped me understand it a bit more. I didn't like Russell Crowe's singing at all. His character seemed weak, which is not the impression I get while watching a stage production.

I've now seen the movie twice and have more thoughts than I did after the first time. I think a few scenes were weaker than they were on stage. Lovely Ladies and Master of the House are two, and I agree with those who mentioned it above. I still thought SBC and HBC did a great job. I wish the singing in Master of the House was more...powerful, I think. I loved the scene in the movie but the singing fell a bit flat to me. It needed more oomph.

Totally agree! I really loved the movie in its entirety, but I was disappointed in Master of the House. You said it perfectly, it needed more oomph!
