Does anyone have picture of cushion in a Leon Mege micropave setting that is similar or compares favorably to the Tiffany Novo? If so please post the pic or refer me to a link of a previous post that could provide me a good comparison. I have checked his website but didnt feel like the images provided me with a close enough view of the various settings that would be comparable to a Novo.

Honestly, I spent a lot of time searching thru Leon threads and on his website when getting my own ring, and I didn''t see anything extremely similar to the Novo. He makes many with a thin pave shank, sure, but I have seen other designers make rings that more closely capture the look of the Novo, particularly the prongs/head and the shank that increases in height toward the stone.

Brian Gavin makes the Novela, which is absolutely gorgeous. Blue Nile has the Nouveau which is pretty close (you would have to buy the stone thru them), and Excel makes a replica also. Pricescopers have posted hand shots of the three I mentioned, I just can''t repost from my phone, sorry.

or http://www.artofplatinum.com/4images/details.php?image_id=525&mode=search (With single or double prongs).

Leon doesn''t like to copy settings but if you really want those ribbon prongs (IMO his claws are much nicer and more delicate) he could do them, his settings are all delicate, refined, and have a little bit of his style to them. You won''t find too many settings as delicate and refined as Leon''s (ie small prongs, super clean even pave) thin clean smooth lines etc, certainly not from any CAD/WAX designers.

But if you don''t need very refined and delicate than you could go for BGD the novela is a decent novo inspired piece and much cheaper than Leon.

Thanks for all of the responses. I have been looking at the Novela and have traded a few emails with Lesley from BGD. Although recently I was showing my FF a diverse set of pics of Novo inspired/micropave solitaires from a bunch of designers and she thought the Novela looked a little "clunky" and overly metallic. I think the professhionally staged pictures they have on their website look great but the few cushion cut Novela''s I have seen posted on here dont appear to be as as amazing.

I''m probably going to try and see how much it costs for a custom made Novela that has a few minor adjustments. Not sure if that approach is even feasible or would make sense cost wise.

I may just end up following the suggestions of others and working with Leon since I''m impressed with his ability to create dainty and delicate settings. The only challenge is that I have read that he can be quite pricey and I''d like to stay around 3K or less for the setting so that I can maxmize the stone.

Any thoughts on either approach?

Lastly has anyone seen handshot or side profile pictures of this LM ring? its the r4045....

Thanks!!!

If you think the Novela is clunky with these measurements, I''m not sure how you could like the original Novo?

Novela Measurements:
Top Width: 1.84mm
Bottom Width: 1.76mm
Top Height: 2.87mm
Bottom Height: 1.52mm

The "clunky" claim wasnt really my opinion but more so my FF. I''m sure its partially b/c she has a bias towards the Novo''s and if I were to get the Novela she would fall in love with it. I just think its unfortunate/frustrating that there are not more real life pics out there of the Novela so that I can compare it to the Novo or other designer''s rings. When I emailed BGD they were only able to provide me with a a few pics of a sapphire cushion in the Novela setting which made it hard to compare it against the other rings.

Obviously the dimensions of the Novela compare favorably to the Novo but IMO a picture is worth a thousand words so I''d just like to be able to visually compare a few rings before ultimately deciding what path to pursue. Buying a ring is an interesting experience and "virtually" connecting and working with multiple vendors is so much different than the process of buying other big ticket items (i.e car, house, etc).

When my (well FI's) Novela comes in from BGD, I'll be sure to post many many pictures. It's only been 9 days since I've ordered, but who's counting?
