Leon Mege Questions...

OK so last night we emailed Leon to see if he would discuss a custom setting with us... Very exciting!
I have a few questions though... I understand that he is the master of pave, and the master knows best! But...

1- Will he do a setting with a stone you purchase elsewhere?

2- Do I need to actually go there at any point or is it possible to do this over the phone and computer? (I can go.. just wondering...)

3- I have heard that he does not like his bands wore next to the Erings...? I had a custom shaped band in mind to fit the idea I have for the Ering... Will he say no?

4- Am I forgetting any other custom designers?

5- Any advice on how to best deal with him. Form what many of you say he can be slightly challenging to work with... But it seems to be worth it to us!

no, many folks have worked with him long distance,even overseas...

this is true, but let him know on the front end that you''d like to wear a band and see if he can help you

there are a bunch out there, but Leon is one of the best...

I always found him very friendly and nice, he''s not a build to print desinger, but if you like what you see on his website and what him to do something like it, you should be fine...

I can''t answer all of the questions but I''ve called Leon to discuss options for a setting and he will absolutely set a stone purchased elsewhere. RE: long distance: there are several posters who have worked with him over the phone who have never been to his office and their rings are gorgeous. I think some of the best advice posted regarding Leon is that, while he is custom, he works within a certain aesthetic range, so clients that want to incorporate certain design elements from other Leon Mege creations seem to get a better response than those who just want something outside that range. I would suggest a phone call to him once you''ve found your stone. He probably gets heaps of emails, but if you call his office, he''ll likely be the one to pick up the phone. Good luck

Thanks for all the answers. I really hope he will entertain my idea.

Today we were able to obtain a pic of the ring that I am pulling the idea from. Should I be showing him the pic and letting him come up with his own take on it, or should I just stick to describing it as best I can and see what he comes up with? I don''t want to have any copyright issues by showing him the pic...

I''d take him the picture and tell him you want something similar. he won''t make an exact copy anyway....
