Hello everyone! It’s been a long time since I last posted here. Some of you might remember me from this thread HERE.
I had promised to post handshots after I proposed, but unfortunately I totally forgot! We went on a vacation right after the proposal, and then we got really caught up in wedding plans and searching for a house. It''s been a little crazy for us both.
Anyway, let me start with the proposal. I decided to propose on Christmas Day at the Rockefeller Ice Rink in Manhattan. She ALWAYS wanted to ice skate at Rockefeller, and especially on Christmas. She loves to go see the tree, and she loves the whole ambiance of NYC around Christmas time, so it was perfect! I contacted the Rockefeller Ice Rink, and found out they had these special tickets that would allow us to skip the ENTIRE line (hundreds of people), and give us a few minutes alone on the ice. They would even play a song of my choosing in the background during my few minutes of fame.
In the meantime, I started taking her to a local ice skating rink here in Brooklyn to get some practice on the ice. I had to get comfortable enough to bend down on one knee with skates on (without falling over), and I wanted her to be really comfortable on the ice. Luckily she didn’t think anything of my sudden interest in ice skating, and my constant bending down on one knee to adjust my skates.

When Christmas Day came, I told my fiancée that my sister’s boyfriend knew someone who worked at Rockefeller, and he was able to score these special tickets that would let us skip the whole line, and they invited us to tag along with them. That was all I could think of to make it believable, but it worked! She totally believed the story, and she was very excited to go.
As you could imagine, I was a nervous wreck the whole time. From walking to the ice rink, lacing up my skates, ice skating around, holding my fiancées hand, staring at my watch, and clutching the ring box in my coat pocket. As the session ended and the crowd started to disburse, I knew my moment was coming up. To give us the excuse of lagging behind, we took a few pictures. After a minute or so, when everyone was off the rink except us, I heard my song playing. I looked in her eyes, grabbed one of her hands (for support!), got down on one knee (perfectly!), and somehow whipped out and opened the ring box in one fluid motion with one hand! The crowd went wild. She was totally floored! She had no idea it was coming! She told me afterwards that she couldn’t see the ring because her eyes were so teary, but once I opened the box she saw a million little sparkles!
We held hands and skated around the rink a few times like Olympic gold medal champions (LoL). We had friends and family in the crowd screaming and taking pictures. (Good thing she didn’t notice them earlier!). They actually recorded the whole thing on camera (whenever I watch that video, my heart starts beating fast!). We all went to her house after where both of our families waited for us with desserts and champagne.
Of course she LOVES LOVES LOVES the ring!
We went on the cruise to the Caribbean a few weeks later, and decided on a two year engagement (January 2010). Her brother was getting married in-between, and we still had to buy a house, so it gave us time to space everything out and not get too crazy.
Thank you everyone on this board who helped me out. If it wasn’t for Pricescope, I probably would’ve got ripped off by some shady local jeweler and I’m sure the ring would never have been this beautiful.
These are a few of the handshots she takes from her camera phone and pix messages to me. The first one is the day after the proposal. Yes, I do believe she is OBSESSSED with her LM!!! (and hopefully with me too! j/k)
