Laser planners for rough

We are currently using Sarin and Ogi rough laser planners. The 3D image is composed by 2D scans, not giving any accuracy on the depth of holes or cracks. I recently read an article somewhere where they were describing a machine using different technology. I can not find this article anymore. Can anyone help me?
