OMG, I just called to find out how much it costs. They told me $1600 for 6 sessions but I would need 8 sessions. Each session is $300!!! I knew it was expensive but I didn''t know that expensive. Yikes

I guess this is something I really need to think about.

I went for my first session yesterday. It''s a lot more painful than I thought it would be! But I survived.

One session is supposed to remove 20% of the hair, so I suppose it would take five. I got two as a gift, after that I''ll see...

I thought it was quite painful as well. My last visit wasn''t as bad since they got a new "gentle" laser. Just a warning, I don''t know anyone that got total hair loss after just 5

Thought you ladies would appreciate this....
Genius over here thought it''d be "FUN" to try a new Braun Silk Epil epilator tonight. Ummm, ok. I almost wet my pants LOL...That was a waste of money. I can''t imagine child birth be worse than that LOL. JK moms out there! Let''s stick to laser, shall we! :)

Skippy--Laser hair removal is totally worth it. I had my upper lip, chin, and neck done over two years ago and my results have been permanent, thus far. I did not have a horrible problem, but I have very fair skin and very dark hair, so even a few stray hairs were noticeable. Also, I was spending $25 for an eyebrow/upper lip wax every two weeks, so I did the math and figured that a permanent treatment would definitely pay off over time.

I'm not sure where you live, but the regulations regarding who can perform laser hair removal vary in each state. I would recommend going to someone who is affiliated with a doctor and has some serious credentials. I saw a specialist who works with my dermatologist, and I was very comfortable going to her.

The cost was either $1000 or $900 for five treatments, and that was all I needed. If I did need more, they would only cost $50 for each subsequent treatment. I can't wait to go back and have my underarms done!

Good luck!

Skippy ~ I am in the process of getting my underarms and bikini done and I am thrilled with the results so far. I have the dark hair and olive skin so it has been working great! My bikini has better results so far and I have been told it is b/c the hair is more coarse. It has not been that painful, except for one time. I was told that it is much more painful the week before and during your period. I realized that the one time it really hurt was the week before my period, so that did make sense.

I have been going to American Laser Centers. It is kind of pricey, but they are always doing specials. They threw in a free microdermabrasion facial for free with my packages along with a few hundred dollars off. Plus, they had an 18 month interest free payment plan. They do require 6 sessions total, one every ten weeks, and they guarantee there to be no hair growth for two years after your last session and if there is hair growth, they will do the extra treatments for free in that two year period. Hope this info helps you some!

I went for my second treatment yesterday. It seemed to hurt even more then the first... Ouch. I was pleased with the results of the first treatment, the hair was lighter and easier to shave, so I hope the second treatment will be as effective.

Anchor ~ It may hurt more each time you go b/c they turn up the laser. I had an appointment today (the last for my underarms) and it was the most painful one. I just kept thinking about not having to shave them anymore!

Hi I am having this done for **FREE** by someone who is learning in a Doctor''s Office. The sessions will all be with the DR.
I am so excited, I am getting my Arm Pits and Bikini Line Done. My boyfried had it done last week and said it really didn''t hurt.. just felt very cold air blowing on the area being done. I have dark hair -course and fair skin. My underarms never look great, even after I shave. They always have that shadow. Do you know if that goes away?

Skippy, Did you go ahead with it? I just read all the posts and it seems my fair skin and dark hair makes me a good results canidate,,, and the shadows under the arms disappear... Now as long as I keep working out at the gym, my arms will look nice in summer outfits. My coloring looks a lot like yours. My hair is Very dark brown and I am in my late 40''s - everyone asks why I color my hair so dark..

I wouldn''t let it bother you about your hair color. I actually have really dark hair (almost black) and my hairdresser asked who colored it for me; he said he wishes he could achieve that color. I am lucky because I have dark thick shiny hair; I got it from my grandma. I am unlucky that I am a little hairy, not bad but a little bit. I would love to do that laser hair removal but can''t right now; I am excited for you, lucky girl to get it free. Come back and let us know how the results turn out long term. thanks

Ohh, I want to have this done one day. I am a perfect candidate too. Pale skin and dark hair.

Skippy, I''m with you. I love the dark hair on my head and get lots of complements on it. Its nice and think. But unfortunately, dark hair on other body parts is NOT a good think

My blond friend can have days of stubble not show. I can''t even skip one day of shaving my legs in the summer. And I dread bathing suit season. Not because of my body or weight but because of dealing with bikini line.

This year is going to be a diamond ring, maybe in two years.

After laser treatments, the shadow does go away with the dead follicles. Now when i see hair in the underarm, its really light and barely noticeable...so no shadow at all. I can''t recommend it enough!

Not to be a negative Nelly but thought I would share my long term results. I have noticed new hair growth (due to pregnancy)
39.gif
They warned me this could happen b/c of hormone changes but I was hoping it wouldn''t be a lot (or this soon). For those who might have kids in the next few years (or those who are going through the change) you might want to wait until you are done to have the removal.

I found EVERY treatment painful. I even had a topical cream that was suppose to help. The underarms were the worst!

I''ve been told about the hormone changes effect. I just had two treatments as a gift and won''t spend money on additional treatments for now, and I do think I will continue once I will have had my children. And yeah, my sister told me the underarms were the worst.

I am in the process of getting my full leg and major bikini area.
The clinical spa I''ve been going to for my acne (now managed- yeah!) began offering the GentleLase removal last year. Over the holidays they had buy the full leg, get another area free.

I have had 4 treatments, and it will likely cost me a total of 1600 for both areas.
I know it''s a TON of money, but I''m doing it as a gift to myself- I hate getting waxed,
and not having to shave my legs is a huge bonus.

But god yes, it does hurt, but each time is less (less hair to target)

Oh, and touch ups for life are $25/visit once I''m done

Just had to jump in here and say I went back for my 5th underarm treatment the other day, and the nurse told me they had just replaced all their lasers with a new system. The old system required some goopy gel stuff and then the laser itself blew cold air as it went along... it wasn''t excruciating, but definitely not pleasant. The new system required no goopy gel and no cold air... and was seriously almost pain-free!!! I couldn''t believe the difference... so for anyone afraid of the pain, apparently as the laser systems become more advanced, the pain is becoming less of a concern... definitely something to check on before you make an appointment somewhere!

Make sure you go to a good place. I''ve been thinking about doing it again (had some done previously), for a while and my mom sent me a link from the news (can''t remember which station, have to ask her again), and 2 ladies were REALLY badly scarred. One was darker skinned (don''t remember which one), one had her face done and the other had her back done, her whole back now has tiny squares all over it, and the lady''s face was so scarred it looked like a tattooed beard/mustache. She''s had other treatments to lighten the scars. Since they signed release forms they can''t sue or anything.

I had an area done and went in for like 5 treatments I think (like 5 years ago or so). They burnt me fairly bad with one of the zaps (oops too high) I got free cream to rub on it to make the scar lighten (gee thanks
20.gif
). The scar is gone, but geez that was close. I am considering it again because I am just so despirate, and I use the epilator on my armpits and legs (from the knee down). That is the only thing that gets rid of the dark shadow. But I have to do it daily if I want it to stay smooth.... ugh... so I am debating again too.

Do you know the name of the laser system they use so we can ask? Thanks

4 years later, I still am hair free! But as Tacori said, I am interested to see what will happen if I have kids. I spent about 700 on my bikini area and it took 6 treatments...best money I spent!
