With the price range of 6-7K, what is the best cut and largest stone I could get? Please help. All opinions are welcome.

More details would really help, but here's what I came up with from GOG

this one is an "m" color - so you will see some color in the stone but the sparkle will be amazing

What shape and what color clarity are you hoping for?

1.5 cts is easy.

But i think you should be able to find something between 1.5 and 2 cts.

If an RB, then I think only if he drops to a K-L color and SI2 and sticks with a non H&A.

Sorry about that, but I was thinking RB and J is the lowest I would go.

Here are a few more...but I think that GOG one looks amazing!!!

You could get a 1.25ct G/H SI2, or you can get an I/J 1.3ish ct in an SI1 then.

Thank you all. How much of a visual difference will there be between 1.31 and let say 1.50ish. Bella_Mezzo, I tried to find those stone, but I couldn''t based on the item #''s you suggested from WF.
I saw this from WF and I was wondering if you can provide some opinions.

Probably a difference of about 0.2-0.3mm in diameter.

.3 mm, but that really means 9% difference.

There is a noticeable difference there. 1.51 from WF is not ACA/H&A, but would it be a good performer overall?

Thanks Breann-Why doesn''t it work for me? I put the space at the end, what am I missing?

I would say that if you want to get something around 1.5, try to find something around 1.40-1.49. It will look about the same as a 1.5, but you''ll avoid the price increase that comes at half carat increments.

I like your idea Travel Goddess, but that range is hard to find. That would be a great saving, but would give me the look I am looking for.

Thanks Breann and Stonecold. I will call JA for an IS in the am. That stone has potential.

I have a 1.25 and did not notice much difference between my diamond and 1.5s when I tried them on. This is a big deal because I love biiiiig diamonds. For me, the size difference was not worth the price hike unless I could get above 1.7cts.

1.3 is easier to find than 1.4 for some reason. But 1.25s are the most common increment prior to 1.5.

This would be an upgrade from mu current .70 so I was trying to get to most bang of the $. I don''t think I want to go through this process again as it has proven to be a pain in the b--t. Also, I was thinking of adding pear (.25)side stones. Would that help the appearance of the size at all?

Not really

It will give you better finger coverage though, if you are interested in having more finger presence. Have you tried on a ring like that? I really wanted a large solitaire until I tried on a three-stone ring (all rounds in my case) and was totally in love

For me, three RBs is super blingy and gave me the look I wanted much more than a solitire did. But it doesn''t make the center look any bigger. So you need to know what you are going for -- a big blingy look, or a big diamond look, because they are two different thing.

I also started with a .80 carat and recently went up to a 1.25ct K color. It is a BIG difference in size. But I was not happy with the color and so I went up to a G color diamond. And you know what? Going up in color satisfied my desire for a larger ring! The colorless look appeals to me so much more than the slightly tinted look. Anyways, if you want bigger consider whether going up in color might help you too. It helped me.

DD, I saw your ring and it''s beautiful! Can anyone recommend a vendor that can make a three stone with pear sides.

I have a three stone (sapphire and diamonds) and I agree with Dreamer, you have more finger presence but the center stone doesn''t look bigger. That being said, I love my three stone and think diamond three stones are gorgeous! Pear sides would be lovely. Whiteflash and Brian Gavin and I think also GOG all make beautiful settings which is also nice and convenient if you are getting your diamond from them. Their setting prices are very competative. IF you want a slightly higher priced setting Lean Mege or Mark Morrell are fantastic.

Personally, I would have the vendor I was buying the ring from just make the setting. Their workmanship is fantastic and it''s really convenient.

I would like some opinions on the IS image, but can''t seem to copy it. Does anyone know how to do that? Not too sure how to analyze it. Any tips on what to look for?

If H&A isn't important to you, the IS would make the final call - you need to keep it to 99kb or less. I would save it on your PC to around 90kb just to be safe, and name it something completely bizarre so you don't run into name duplication problems.

I''d like to see the IS of the JA stone. Have you seen/lived with a J color diamond? It will look warm and even taupe/beige in some lighting environments. Not bad or good, but you need to know and love the look.
