Larger goods price increase

(5/19) Prices on 3ct+ are up almost across the board
(5/26) Strong demand and shortages for 4ct+

Large stones are tight right now, especially in better colors and clarity, though overall demand has slackened.

.....luckily tho our Canadian dollar is stronger, excise tax is gone and our local tax is dropping from 7 to 6% soon; so at least my buying power is better than in past......

Up a percent or so in the last 2 weeks, depending on class/category.

Sunnygal, 2ct range unchanged but with anything 2.5ct+ there is a shortage of goods. Demand raises prices too.

That weepy face is Hilarious!!! Lordy, I am so glad I upgraded already.. I wonder what''s happening in the 1ct range?? Any insights for someone whose done upgrading engagement rings but looking at other sparklies like pendants & bracelets or smaller RHRs.

When someone posted that brand new 2.57 J SI1 ACA the other day, I actually really considered it for a day or so....but then I thought well crap there is no way I want to pay an extra $3-4k over my current upgrade trade-in price to get something that is only .20mm larger. Plus not to mention I think my husband would kill me if I brought that up.

But it''s pretty freaky for someone who is still looking at that price range to consider an upgrade. The per carat weight price has gone up so much in the last few years. Insane amounts of money for small increases. Bah!

I have been, slowly, searching for a 3ct, yikes. Guess I better get moving. The pricing increase for both platinum and diamonds is totally out of hand. Gonna be one expensive ring.
