Large amethyst

[Cind11]

After seeing this amethyst posted on someone else''s thread (and it was too big for them because they wanted a stone for a ring), I decided to order it from Gary Dutton. It came today. It''s a native cut but still seems to sparkle nicely. It''s 24.55 cts. If I keep it, it will end up as a pendant. Here are Gary''s pictures.

Yes, I do like it. I think it will make an awesome pendant. I don''t know exactly how to set it though. I''m thinking yellow gold would look really rich against the purple but white would probably work too.

I’d do yellow. It softens the contrast of a dark purple, plus it really complements the blue and red flashes.

That''s a really interesting cut on that stone. I''m glad you bought it so we could see it. I think it will be just the right size for a pendant -- based on how it looks in your photo with your hand. It''s really not that BIG. But of course wouldn''t work for a ring for most people.
