y''know folks - just a subsequent point....

whether right or wrong, whether she worded it well or badly, dragonfly expressed her valid opinion - which she had a right to do. yes, i know everyone else does also, but she expressed hers with less vitriol than was used, in general, in response to her. she''s also pretty young - 22. i don''t agree with her - i live in NY and my husband works on wall street and used to work in the WFC and i get the terror. but i also know inexperience and naivete when i see it, and i know that life will beat it out of dragonfly soon enough.

what i DO know is that she left pricescope after she made that last post and asked to be removed from the LIW list also.

i think when we express our opinions in ways which drive others away from a group which they have joined legitimately, we need to look at how we''re expressing ourselves. we can be ''right'' without being bullies.

i''ll miss her, and i think it''s a shame she left.
I acknowledge your POV but respectfully disagree.

Both on the ''we'' aspect and the ''bullies'' aspect. I do not see any comments here which overstep.

Certainly none which could be construed as bullying; which is a very strong allegation. One, which if truly held, should have been reported to the Mods.

Bullying? Give me a break. If any of these women were bullying, then I''m Miss Sweet-n-Subtle.

There were plenty of ways to state this POV which may have brought up thoughtful conversation instead of indignant (not to be confused with bullying) responses. Saying people needed to "get over it" is probably not the best method. And this is from someone who says "get over it" a lot.

I remember two strong earthquakes in Ca. Whittier and Northridge (where I was older and a bit more rattled, no pun intended). Now at the first suspicion of a jolt, I BOLT. For a desk, doorway whatever. It''s not conscious. It somehow ingrained itself in me to defend myself. Not necessarily fear (as earthquakes don''t scare me too much) but out of self preservation.

I would imagine NYers definitely have a deeper sense of self preservation entrenched within themselves after 9/11..the full extent being something that people who didn''t live through it could never understand.

And I''m tired of hearing that "senior" members dominate this forum. If they do, it''s because they''ve managed to learn when to say something and when to bite their tongue, thereby lasting around here.

I thought it was because we had ''special" powers. You mean we don''t

Speak for yourself. I can cast a withering glance (or word) at 10 paces....

I, for one, am afraid of all 3 of you.

Did we ever hear who was in the plane and why they did the flyby?

Maybe those leg-tingling journalists should spend more time investigating and less time on Mrs. Obama''s wardrobe.

My husband works in Jersey City right by the Hudson. He sent me a text that morning saying "we''re being evacuated, nobody knows what''s going on, we''re being told to walk down 17 flights of stairs, people are running in the streets outside and there are fighter jets flying around the buildings and near the statue of liberty." I was in class and I left to call him and then when he didn''t know what was going on i called my mom to ask if she could turn on the TV to see if there was anything on there. I was absolutely terrified and crying. I was young on 9/11 but I still remember watching the news and seeing the videos and everything that happened and this brought back such terrible memories.

Maybe looking back on this "photo op" it seems like people should not have panicked, but for the people who were in the buildings it was very scary. My husband spoke to a woman who works on the 18th floor of his building (one floor above him) who said she looked out the window and saw a 747 flying directly at the building towards her and she thought she was going to die. She said she thought 9/11 was happening all over again as she watched those planes fly right near their building and other buildings around them.

Yes, it''s true, looking back on it there was no real danger, but I can''t imagine who would think it was a good idea to fly a plane and fighter jets flying low over a city that was attacked that same way just a few years ago.

I have lived in NY City for many years.

I was here, smelling the smoke and watching in horror on 9/11. When F-16''s fly low over your apartment building as they did for days afterward, you feel their vibration.

Those sights, those sounds and even those smells cannot be understood by anyone who hasn''t lived it first-hand.

I now live in a "new" New York City where an unusually loud blast of thunder in a storm causes a questioning look and even a glint of fright.

The photo-op was the work of those who are clearly out of touch, insensitive and arrogant beyond words. The fact that the mayor of this city wasn''t apprised of the situation beforehand is wholly irresponsible and inexcusable.

That a 22-year old here on PS feels I need to "get over it" is inconsequential and frankly not surprising. Knowing my government felt pretty much the same way is what''s really infuriating.
