I bought my wife a new watch, so should I surprise her on Mother's Day?

or wait till the 23rd which is her BD. What do you think?

I'd say it depends on your family's /country's traditions.

For us birthdays are super important, but mother's day is not a big present thing here (think flowers and breakfast in bed made by your 5 y/o)
So, if dh gets me a nice watch for mother's day, logically there would be some ACA or VCA action going on for my birthday:mrgreen2:

Which event has more significance to you, her birthday, or being the mother of your children?

I would get two separate presents myself.

Whatever you decide, I am sure she will appreciate it.

DK :))

Mother's Day and a different gift for her Birthday. While @Austina said she isn't your mother she is the mother of your daughters. In my family my dad always bought my mom a mother's day gift. It was a loving and sweet thing to do in our family and after all your wife is the mother to your darling girls.

And @kipari is quite right. What significance does this day have in your family? For us birthdays and anniversaries are first and foremost and Mother's Day is more of a less serious gift holiday though my dad has given my mom jewelry on Mother's day too. So it just depends. There is no right or wrong answer but more what is tradition for your family.

All a card and gift mean is I love and appreciate you and all you have done for our family. What the gift is isn't as important.

If you decide to give her the watch for MD then come back here after and we will help you choose a birthday gift for her.

Now onto the pics of this watch please.:appl::love::appl:

Birthday :appl:

I combine holidays for big gifts. For example, Christmas and anniversary. I'd rather have one big gift than two small ones. I'd give her flowers for Mother's Day and tell her you're giving her a gift for both occasions on her birthday.

Flowers and a sweet card for Mother’s Day, watch for her birthday.

In all honesty, in this household, my husband would not be able to hold his cookies, & would've handed me the watch in the store bag upon crossing the threshold. But DF, I'd hold the gift for her birthday and give her a dinner out, a nice card etc for Mothers Day. Just my 2 cents. And I can't wait to see pics of her new watch!

Flowers for Mother's Day.
Watch for Bday.

I get a gift for both occasions as a May birthday person. :mrgreen2: So get her something for each and give the biggest one for birthday.

So the watch for Mother's Day and an Octavia for her birthday would be right in line...

Otherwise, the watch for the biggest event (in many families this is birthday) and something small but thoughtful for Mother's Day. (flowers, brunch out, whatever)

Let the return policy period dictate. What if she doesn't like it?

Gorgeous and excellent taste, I too love the RG/ SS band.

Beautiful watch! Definitely birthday.

Nice looking watch. Another vote for birthday. IMHO mother's day gifts are to be given by child(ren) not husband.

DF, where do you buy Rolex? DH wants anniversary gift of an expensive watch.

Hi,
Flowers or breakfast out or in bed for Mothers Day. I agree she is not your mother.

Birthday gift for sure. Its so lovely. You do treat her well, I think.

I ask my two daughters to split 50/50 on the watch for their mother. They both say ..."I'm broke"..

I bought the watch from David SW. He is not an AD, but very reputable dealer. What model do you have in mind for your DH?

He has 36mm day date but since I gave him 42mm thin profile Hamilton to wear with dress shirts, he hasn't worn his Rolex. So he wants either a bigger Rolex or Patek because 36 is now too small. It has to be at least 40mm with plain dial and metal bracelet. No Chrono or Roman numerals on face.

HI:

I would be happy for anyone in my family to acknowledge either MD or my BD. So I say, it doesn't matter! Gift it to her when you'd think she'd least expect it, say on Tuesday evening after she's done your laundry.:lol-2:

cheers--Sharon

You can get a discount on 41mm D/D or D/J but any S/S sports model Rolexes are going for over MSRP.

Buy her more diamonds and flowers and lunch for Mother's day and give her the watch for her birthday.

It might not hurt to add even more bling to the birthday gift just in case you may try her patience from time to time.:mrgreen2::mrgreen2::lol-2:

Thanks, bigger watches are in style now, but back in the 80s a 26mm Rolex was the norm for a lady's watch.
