Lab report does not match

Hi all,

It's been a while since I've posted on here, been very busy! My question is actually for my sister, she has bought a diamond ring that I don't think anyone here would have considered but the real issue is with the lab report number not matching the online verification tool.

It's an IGI modified round brilliant and the lab report number is F6H40690 which was purchased from a high street store. There's not much point going into the spec of the diamond, she's happy with it so that's all that matters.

I have hopefully attached a picture of the lab report if anyone wants to see it. I think I will examine the stone to see if the lab number is actually on there, can just about do it with my x30 loupe.

Opinions/advice on this?

Thanks.

IGI has a decent reputation---far better than EGL Internaitonal for example...

Having said that- it's quite possible that the IGI technology is nowhere near GIA's in terms of traceable online reports....

Additionally, IGI has several different labs and they don't share data between them. Contact the lab directly with questions. They're fairly cooperative.

My suggestion too would be to call or email the IGI lab in Antwerp, which supposedly issued the report.

That kind of credit card-sized ID Report is not depicted in a photo on the IGI Worldwide web site, but IGI states it offers "different formats and presentations"

I'm seeing other UK vendors (like 77diamonds.com) refer to them. Perhaps these compact format, abbreviated reports (that don't include, e.g., the plotting diagrams) are not uploaded into IGI's database with their larger, more detailed reports?

P.S. Might the stone have been sealed in this kind of packaging?

Thanks for the replies. I'll suggest my sister contacts the lab directly instead of going to the shop first.
