Hey all… ok, I’ve officially gone down the rabbit hole of LGD. As I begin my upgrade process, I am BEYOND discouraged with what my current budget will get me. I was so excited to upgrade but I’m learning that With my $35k budget I’m not getting nearly the size or quality I was hoping for, which is kind of crazy?! The upgrade would also require me to give up my 2.5 ct OMB, which is just beautiful. I’ve always thought of the Lab Grown world as “fake,” or “cheap”and forgive me, again, newbie and so open to learning more! I would love to get a spready Pear or Emerald cut… question is, what could I get for $20k? I would love to be all in (plain solitaire setting included). My cushion is 8.67x 7.53, plus a halo around it, so my eyes are used to the finger coverage… I would love to be in the 4+ carat range, it would need to be that size or bigger for it to matter… I also recognize that Pears are much more sizeable for their carat weight. I plan on chatting with David at DBL, anyone else I should consider? And what are your overall thoughts on this shift? Any threads you think would help would be so helpful as I navigate. TIA!

DBL is great. Also consider Jon at Distinctive Gem.

I don’t know anything about fancy shapes but everyone here will give you great advice!

What a fun project to have in the works, and welcome to the world of lab grown diamonds.

I'd second Jon at Distinctive Gems, he's always been super helpful and budget conscious.

There is this lovely (to my eyes, I'm no expert though) 5.73, E, VVS2, emerald from Lauren B Jewelry for $16,900, which leaves plenty of room for a ring too :

Pears (good ones at any rate) are a bit harder to find, but I'll poke around later today to see what I can dig up.

Not an expert on emerald cuts but this one caught my eye on Frank Darling

5.1ct F VS1 emerald

Thank you all for your help!! I sooo appreciate it! I have been in touch with a couple of Jewelers, and my original jeweler who sourced and created my original ring 11 years ago...and I have to say, I am so impressed with David at DBL! We chatted on the phone and he really took the time to explain the LBD world, and the advantages, and disadvantages... He can also create what I want within my budget, which is an extra plus!

I will be in touch with him later this week to help me source a stone... I lowered my original budget for the Diamond itself, as I think I want a natural eternity band to go with it, and can do it all with my budget! I am also leaning towards an Emerald shape.

My question now is, because I feel the pricing of both Natural and LGD is like a rollercoaster... should I wait until after the holidays to begin sourcing my stone? From a pricing perspective, I wonder if prices will decrease after the holiday demand?

I will keep you all posted on the journey and process!

I am wondering this too, about pricing
