Know what style she wants, but need help!

enhancer.jpg

The image above was through the case using my iphone, so its horrid compared to real life. There was only one associate when I went and she was busy helping a couple. So I just did the best I could through the case.

It's hard for me to tell from the photo, but does the enhancer require the stone to be set at a slight angle so it will fit? It doesn't look to me like a princess set straight-on (rather than kite-set) would slide into it well. But I could easily be wrong.

Has she seen and rejected halo settings? Just want to be sure she has seen all the options. I just hate to see you get a nice diamond and put it in that enhancer with I1 diamonds in it. And no, I would not consider the $700 diamond. Symmetry is only "good" and I prefer excellent but would consider very good. It is really small, too.

Sorry to keep repeating...

NO ON THE HALO!!!

I personally love it. Here is how the convo goes.

Me= What about the halo style?
She = it's ok... (Long hard sigh.)

Then she always goes back to that enhancer and asks the jeweler if she can see it with a princess cut 1/2 carat. She is a simple woman. We believe in living off of cash only. I simply cant afford a $3400 ring right now or in the near future. I came out of a divorce a few years back and I am finally getting financially back on my feet. I don't want to get into the credit card thing again, so with that.. Ideally 1/2 carat to .6 diamond, since most bands seem to go for 800 or so.

I am pretty sure I will get the above linked enhancer with a simple 4 prong 18k white gold setting. When she wants to step up later, we can have that conversation then.

i am sorry. We here are a haloing group not an enhancer group (as im sure you've been able to tell). But what you choose doesnt matter on here it matters on her finger.

the last thing ill say about the enhancer is this; does she want one so she can be able to remove it and wear the ring as a solitaire too? Because if not I just would think buying a ring with that already in the design makes more sense, a la:
it is set with approx .6 ct too!

I don't think the enhancer she likes can be worn alone as it will look really odd to have a 5 mm gap in the middle. Unless she plans to wear the diamond ring alone at times, I agree it is better to get a very nice 0.5 ct princess diamond with excellent cutting and have it set into a ready made setting with decent melees that are not iffy in colour and clarity. The price will probably end up pretty close and she doesn't have to worry about putting on 2 separate rings each morning.

I will agree with the others that I am not understanding an enhancer when the setting can be like what she wants. You can't upgrade a diamond from just anywhere and that is why we were recommending WhiteFlash earlier.

Yeah I meant wear the stone as a solitaire. Wearing an enhancer alone obviously isn't really an option. I mean she might like the option of "dressing it up" but if she plans on wearing it every day seems like you might consider getting a setting that already has design incorporated.

Like I said, if she likes the enhancer, that's the style you should get. She has a clear idea of what she wants, and thank you again for not caving to the halo pressure (I don't like halos either, for that matter). But can you possibly find one with higher quality diamonds? I think the I1s may be cloudy to the naked eye if they're anything like the jewelry store ones I've seen.

Does she like the idea of adding the enhancer to the solitaire to make it a wedding set? I don't think it's important to be able to wear the wedding band on its own. I never wear my wedding band without my engagement ring. But if it's simply the style of ring that she likes and not the fact that it's an enhancer that would be added onto a solitaire as a wedding band, you could certainly consider looking for a single ring in the style of the enhancer. I don't think that would be very far off from what she wants, unless she specifically wants something to add to the ring later. Know what I mean?

Given what you've narrowed your budget down to now, I'd choose the 0.62ct 2-chevron I/VS1 from Whiteflash that Julie posted.
