Hello to the asscher lovers! I have two issues for which I would be grateful for your opinion:
First, what do folks think of this stone? Picture and ASET to follow. Kicken or no?

Shape: Asscher
Carat weight: 1.30
Cut: Ideal
Color: F
Clarity: VS1
Certificate: GIA
Depth: 68.7%
Table: 59.0%
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Very Good
Girdle: Slightly thick to thick
Culet: None
Fluorescence: None
Measurements: 6.08*5.94*4.08
Ratio: 1.02

Second I am still a bit hung up on the size issue and wish I could go bigger without compromising too much and without breaking the budget. I am also looking at another stone with the following specs (no pictures for this one yet--waiting on the vendor to get some to me):

Asscher Diamond
Carat Weight:1.52
Color:D
Clarity:VS2
Depth:68.2
Table:63
Symmetry:VG
Polish:VG
Girdle:STK-TK
Culet:N/A
Fluorescence:S
Cut Grade:N/A
Measurements:6.35x6.17x4.21
Certificate:GIA

Question is, w/o seeing the larger stone, I am a bit concerned about the Strong fluorescence. Vendor spoke to the cutter today and cutter assured vendor that the fluor doesn''t negatively impact the appearance of the stone in any way. I don''t have anything against fluor--in fact I think it''s pretty cool and I like the thought that my future stone might have a secret life of its own--but I have been warned off by others from strong fluor in high colored stones. And this stone''s price has probably been discounted because of the fluor. I am also not yet convinced that this stone''s cut/proportions are good--at least I can''t tell by the numbers. I will post any images when/if I get them.

So what do people think? Take a smaller stone that is potentially better cut/no fluor, or hold out for the bigger one? I''m not in a huge hurry to get a stone (it''s for an e-ring), but of course sooner is always better!

Do you have the images for the second stone too please?

Hi,
I''m still waiting on the vendor to provide images of the second stone--hopefully later today. I wanted to start getting opinions on the first one though, since they said they can only hold for 24 hrs.

crown height?

Asking for crown heights on both of the stones right now.

In the meantime here is a picture of the 1.5 D VS2. No ASET image yet--waiting to see if they can get one from the cutter.

Its an emerald cut not an asscher.

Is that because the windmills don''t meet at the center?

It is not much more off square than the first (.12mm diff in sides vs. .18 diff), but it seems to be more noticable becuase of the center facet pattern maybe.

Crown height for the 1.3 F VS1 is 14.9%

Still waiting on CH for the 1.5. I was also concerned that this stone was too off-square. Wonder if I should totally disqualify it though?

It is up to you whether you like a squarish emerald or a true asscher type cut I guess, as long as the optics are good. I like the look of number 2 better btw, but I don''t know anything about step cuts beyond that.

Thanks for the feedback!

The sq. emerald definitely doesn''t look like a "real" asscher and it''s strange that the vendor represented it as such, but surprisingly, I''m digging it. I think I might call it in to see how it looks in real life. Any advice on what I should be looking for with this stone once I have it in hand? Esp w/ the strong blue fluor?

And I guess the first stone wasn''t a hit w/ the crowd...
