You mean those temporary minimal construction jobs to build it?
Approximate 3,900 construction jobs. Those are not permanent. That's 3,900 people employed for one year (so if it takes two years, that's actually only 1,950 people who would be employed).

Yes, there may be the sustaining of additional positions due to purchased supplies, but they would be just as sustained with a more environmentally-friendly infrastructure project. Those are, in fact, part of the President's plans.

Or were you talking about the 35 permanent and 15 temporary contractors it will take to run the pipeline after it's built?

(Numbers directly from the State Department report: https://keystonepipeline-xl.state.gov/documents/organization/221135.pdf)

We don't need it anymore, and it's horrible for the future of our planet. Do the republicans not care about future Americans? :angryfire: :angryfire:

I heard this on the news yesterday, and I am not sure I entirely heard it correctly.

They said oil is now shipped in rail cars and that was responsible for that devastating accident that happened in Canada when something blew up?

Wouldn't this at least be safer?

There's no guarantee that the pipeline will not leak and blow up or leak and contaminate the land and water either.

Last Friday there was an oil spill of 52,000 gallons from a pipeline in Canada. this happens too often. I think we need to make improvements to the safety of pipelines before authorizing more

not that good for the country.
Now most of the oil is brought down by pipeline to Indiana and turned into gasoline.
When the pipeline is in place it will be placed in tankers and sold overseas.
It is better for the US consumer to have it turned into gas here keeping the price per gallon down.
It actually benefits Canada more than the US.

It will still be transported by train to the pickup points for the pipeline so there is really no gain there.

That's what I was hoping for.
