Hi all. On my lunch hour today I went and looked at a solitaire that had caught my eye over the weekend. It seemed to be on "fire" and putting off a lot of good color. I looked at it today through and loop and it looked to be a SI1 or maybe even better( I''m still no expert) anyways I inquired in the color and it is a K. I honestly couldn''t tell too much until I compared it with my H color e-ring. It''s only 5 more points than my current ring but it definately caught my eye. It is set in yellow gold but I''m thinking of having something custom done in white gold. I know there was some sort of thread regarding K colored diamonds with pics of Ks in white gold. I''m a moron today though and I can''t find it again.

So you fell in love with a K, huh?! That''s so exciting!!

I LOVE my K and the tones and colors it gives off. Today I was sitting with it on my hand (it''s not set yet..) and I was soooo amazed by the fire. I could seriously stare at my stone for hours

Can''t wait to hear more about your new possible project!

Thanks so much for giving me that link. That K just kind of jumped out at me, that''s for sure. I''m a little scared to purchase it though. It looked great through the loop and I never would''ve known about the color BUT since it''s set in yellow, it''s like I can''t get a feel for how it will look in white. I''m also thinking of my skine tone, which is an olive to medium tone. My hands are always darker.

Hi LBug - I have a K that is well cut and has medium blue flourescence - I absolutely love it. I have had it for awhile and it has been in three different settings - the first two were yellow gold and the last one was white gold. I was initially afraid it would show more tint in white gold, but I have found that it actually looks better in the white gold - which also had a lot of other diamonds around it which may contribute to the overall "whiter" effect.

The only part that bugged me is seeing the "warmth" from the side view. I am currently having it reset into a platinum halo mounting - which will eliminate the side view problem! I can''t wait to get it and will be sure to post pictures - should have it in about two more weeks.

Sunkist - I definitely will! Have you figured out what kind of setting you''re putting your K in?

Yep! We're going to put it in the Lockes Signature Solitaire

six prong, surprise diamonds around the head, platinum. I can't wait! but I'm going to have to... darn waiting

I know I''m so impatient - my reset is only taking three weeks - but between me constantly thinking about it and everyone I know asking "do you have your ring back?" I''m going crazy! Besides I am really missing my diamond! I have plenty of other rings to wear, but it''s just not the same.

Is yours being set now?

Oh! I hope your''s comes back soon lvnut

You''re going to post pictures, right!? You''d better

hehehe. So is this your engagement ring or a right hand ring? Is it an antique stone?

My K is not being set yet

It will probably be a month or more before we send it in. I was thinking it was going to be right away, but I guess we need to wait. I''m being patient, I just hope the price of the setting doesn''t change on me.

Hi Sunkist - This is my wedding ring - the diamond was a combination of birthday present/5th anniversary upgrade - so I''ve had it close to 9 years. This is actually the fourth different mounting for this stone - I just like to change things up every once in awhile! Thankfully, my husband doesn''t have a problem with it either!

Is this your engagement ring? If so I bet it''s really making you crazy having it and not being able to wear it!

Hehe, that is cool that your husband lets you switch diamonds and setting around! Lucky woman

This is going to be my e-ring. We''re not engaged yet, we''re waiting for the ring... So I''m not that crazy for it yet. Trust me I am dying to wear it, but first I''m just dying to be engaged to my hunny. If I were engaged and without the ring, then yes I think I''d be hopping to have it on my finger!

So which halo are you getting?

I''m going to try to attach a comparison picture of my current ring next to the halo setting that the jeweler had. (I''m not very good at resizing the pictures!)

It has three sided micropave on the shank and one row around the stone wrapping down to another row you see from the side (I''m not very good at describing it!)

Wow, wow, wow!! Now which one are you getting?!? I''m speachless and drooling here

... So is the left hand with the 3-sided pave your current ring? And the halo is the new setting your getting? That halo looks huge! I think I have a new favorite

Are they the same size center stone on each hand?

I''m so amazed that that is a K! I guess I can understand the color bothering you from the side since it''s a large stone. Mine is a .95ct and it doesn''t bother me cause it''s so hard to see! heehee

By the way is that picture taken at your house or at your jewelers? I love the red and green walls. That red is gorgeous!

The ring on my left hand is my diamond as it is (well, was) set - it''s actually four rows of princess cut diamonds with my 4.19 carat round K in the center - it''s a little hard to see the detail - I do have some closer up shots that turned out kind of weird because of the jewelers lighting.

The ring on my right hand is the jeweler''s ring that has a 5.01 carat I colored center stone in the setting that I am having custom made to fit my diamond. Not much difference in the color though, is it? It''s probably because my diamond has medium blue flourescence - it really does seem to make a difference.

The pictures were taken at the jewelers - my husband was unable to get to the store so I took the comparison shots to show him what it would look like. The funny thing is my kitchen is painted a deep coral color that looks just like that red in the store and my bedroom is painted that same color of green!

Your ring is amazing as it is, well, was, but the halo is totally going to make it *pop*! It will stand out so much, that''s going to be so fun! Don''t let Mara see it, she''ll upgrade to a K in a flash
31.gif
hehe

I''d love to see med.blue flouresence in a K. Mine has negligle flouresence, so I can''t see it. Your stone looks so white. If you''ve got more pictures perhaps you could start a new thread for your upgrade?? At least be sure to do it when you get your ring back.

Thanks for the compliments! I loved my ring the way it was, but I really have fallen in love with halos! I was initially worried that I would have a hard time getting used to an "overall" smaller look, but when I tried the 5 carat ring in the store on and saw how much bigger it makes the diamond look I decided to go for it. I have been on this site obsessively looking at the halo resets and it really does make the center stone "pop."

I''m going to attach closer up shot - but I hate this picture because it''s directly under the weird jewelry store lights - or maybe the center stones are picking up the green from the walls - not really sure. The other picture from the distance looks more like what they both look like in "real life!"

Whollllly Smokes. Those two rings are sooooooooooooooooooo beauuuuuuuuuuuuuutiful. I love them.

Ooo lvnut great picture! I think your stone is going to look great in the halo. It''s a beautiful halo, is it designed by your jeweler? Is that a 3 sided pave band on it? Are you going to wear it alone or pair it with another band?

The ring is 3 sided pave and there are 2 rows around the diamond - one visible from the top and the other visible from the side. There is also a small row of diamonds on the band underneath the diamond. I have some pictures of the one from the jeweler, but I''m too tired to try to resize all those closeups - especially since it won''t be much longer until I have mine back! Or if you''d like to see them, maybe I can do it tomorrow after I get home from work.

I am going to wear it by itself. I have always worn just one ring, although I think this looks much more like an engagement ring than my current wide setting.

The jeweler had many different halo settings, they have a couple of manufacturers that they deal with, so this is not a custom design. But out of all the ones I tried on, this was the only one that "spoke" to me!

If you''re going to have your own ring to take pics of soon, don''t bother about sizing the other one pics. I''m excited to see them
