This is the best diamond site on the web. Cant believe this existed for so long and I knew nothing about it. Further I want to commend the keepers and members of this post for

1) keeping adult chat topics off the site (usually there are a couple freaks that do that stuff on public non-adult sites)
2) the # of members and topics are staggering - also very quick turnaround!
3) very clean ergonomics on the page. easy to use
and . . .
4) no "superobvious" advertisement/emails.

THANKS

Leonid,

How can I find the relative rarity of a stone using your database? I want to know what percent of diamonds are AGS000 (or GIA ex/ex/ex)D-VS1 with no Fluor or better. HCA scope 0.8.

I can run a query in my database, RS. It won't include HCA score though.

May I ask what is your interest? :)

I bought such a stone through your site, and want to know how rare it is so I can tell my girlfriend that the stone is 1:432 for quality. i.e. she can talk to 432 of her friends and only one of their stones is that nice.

OK here's the stats for D-VS1 rounds, ideal cut, GIA or AGS graded

count - polish – symmetry
-------------------------
118 ex ex
3 id id
-------------------------
121 total

ALL D-VS1 GIA and AGS graded rounds

count - polish - symmetry
-------------------------
77 n/a n/a
3 id id
1 gd fr
7 n/a gd
97 vg gd
55 gd vg
72 ex vg
48 vg ex
14 ex gd
116 gd gd
15 n/a vg
183 vg vg
118 ex ex
3 n/a ex
1 ex n/a
-------------------
810 total

Therefore, Id/Id and Ex/Ex are about 15% of all listed D-VS1 rounds.

we can check it in your carat range as well if you whish :)

I would like to subract out any "VG" as they are below this.

Also, IF/VVS1/VVS2/ should be counted as "better" so if I knew how many stones are the same or better then that would tell me if it is in the top X %.

The carat is 1.02 but I think I would like to leave this out because if we factor that in all we have to do is go by price! I would really rather leave it to "quality" rather than "value and total rarity"

Therefore, Id/Id and Ex/Ex are about 15% of all listed D-VS1 rounds.

The more interesting question (for me) is:

What percent of all diamonds sold in the last 2 years are (Id/Id or Ex/Ex) AND (color==D) AND (IF or VVS1 or VVS2 or VS1) AND have excellent cuts (table and depth within tight specs might be the only way to estimate this).

all right.

there are 37375 AGS and GIA graded round diamonds listed with color D and less and clarity VS1 and less.

Rarity of your diamond comes to 0.32% :)

no can do :((

Wait -- not sure if that is doing it. I think it is fair to assume that 99% of EGL, IGI, or non-cert stones would not score as AGS000 because if they did they would have been submitted to AGS or GIA to be able to resell for a higher price in nearly all cases. So those should be included, no?

You're right, RS. However, there are not too many EGL, IGI and other stones in the online database although probably there are quite a few in the malls :)

Leonid,

Where is this online rarity database?

There is no "online rarity database", Golfer :)

I only have a diamond database and just ran a few queries :)

Ok -- thanks. So on your database, it is 0.3% (not counting size).

Now I wish I knew a way to include the mauls as there must be tons of stones sold there. Maybe Rappaport keeps those stats.

It is possible :)
