Hello, first post here. Need a little assurance that i made a decent purchase on a diamond for my girl friend. Here's the specs on it:

1) GIA report #2111776158
Shape and Cutting Style: Round Brilliant
Measurements: 5.66 - 5.68 x 3.54 mm
Carat Weight: 0.70 carat
Color Grade: I
Clarity Grade: VS2
Cut Grade: Excellent
Depth: 62.4%
Table: 57%
Crown Angle: 35.5
Crown Height: 15.5%
Pavilion Angle: 41.0
Pavilion Depth: 43.5%
Star length: 50%
Lower Half: 80%
Girdle: Medium - Slightly Thick, Faceted
Culet: None
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Excellent
Fluorescence: Medium Blue
Clarity Characteristics: Cloud, Crystal

Looks absolutely brilliant, cut adviser rates it at a 4! I guess its not as nice as i thought. Going to be mounted in white gold, and should please her alot. Paid 1850 for the diamond and i think the total with the mounting will be 2200. Did i get raked over the coals on this one? I'll have pictures of it soon, picking it up tommorow.

The price is pretty good.

Assuming good optical symmetry, it'd be a borderline case for what people around here would consider a fine make. It's better than average, and is probably pretty nice and sparkly.

Hi ditchdrift

Its a risky angle combo, what we call steep deep, this means it is possible there would be light leakage. However if the overall cut precision is good and that it has longer lower halves, means that it is also possible light leakage won''t be an issue, however there is no way for us to tell without images unfortunately.

Thanks for the responses, i think that even though it is a steep/deep Ashley will love it for her e-ring and first ever diamond. It was a good price and looks great, i will get some pictures asap.

Here it is, excuse my mechanic hands and bad photo taking. Oh it was also dirty from handling it with nervous hands.

very classic :) it''s lovely!

Lovely ring, and very nice pictures!

yes it is very nice...you will have to let us know how the proposal goes :) i''m sure your girlfriend will love it

Make sure you clean it before giving it to her (if you''ve got it dirty). A dirty diamond wont reflect the light like it should.

Congratulations on upcoming proposal!
