So I've been looking for a good deal on 1 carat channel set round diamond band with eye clean diamonds. I appreciate a good deal, but I may have overstepped my own quality boundaries here. I just purchased this band and now I'm filled with dread that it may not be as good as it sounds.

I talked him down from 750 to 650, which is outrageously good price for supposed vs-si clarity. I thought the diamonds looked eye clean from the pics, anyone have any predictions? I will post my own pics when it arrives next week.If its crap, I plan on returning it and getting this:

There is no way to give an opinion of what you bought on ebay from the posted pictures.
Good news, if you don't like it there is a money back guarantee by the seller, no restocking fees.
The e-weddingbands.com band is very nice looking.
Just one other thought, there is a pretty good price difference between the 2 bands ($650 vs. $1219), I always subscribe to the age old adage your get what you pay for. Best of luck.

wise words. maybe I got lucky but probably not. I'll get some better pics when it arrives. I wish I had a magnifying glass,I should probably invest in one...

you can buy a loupe (magnifying glass for jewelry) on amazon for around or less than $5 depending on the model you choose

good idea, thanks!

well the ring arrived. At first I was happy, the diamonds reflect light well and do not seem cloudy at all. But then morning came in in sunlight conditions 2 or 3 black carbon spots can be seen at the right angle. So now I hate myself for being cheap! Whats worse, I showed the lady and she won't let me return it. She loves it but she doesn't know any better. I HATE black carbon spots. I can deal with feathers, clouds, even a tiny crack but I despise black spots in diamonds. They are pretty nice quality stones, but those few spots are really bugging me.

I'd post some pictures but she hid the ring from me so I can't return it :(sad Its not a horrible ring, just not completely eye clean like I was hoping.

SO.. my question now is what are your opinions on 'pepper' inclusions? The guy who sold me the ring said the quality was vs-si but I'm a little pissed that a few of the spots are visible without magnification.

2 or 3 black carbon spots for $650 is, IMO, still a deal.

yes, you make a good point. I wonder if the ring I was considering from e-weddingbands for 1200 would even be any better. I'mnot sure I can afford more than 1200 right now, I suppose I can always upgrade the ring later. Speaking of which, it would be possible to replace 1 or 2 diamonds on the band, right? Without risk of damaging it?

VS - SI is a big range. SI2 to SI3 might have inclusions visible to the eye. The amount you paid is only a good deal if it is the quality you paid for. However, if your SO likes it, then that is all that matters.

I guess if she likes it but if it were me, I would return it. I don't think $650 is that great a deal to live with carbon spots that you can see.

This may not be EXACTLY what you are looking for, but here's a link to a channel set band at IDJ - check it out @ $430 and see what else you may like on their site. I would suggest just giving Luann or Yekutiel a call on Monday and see what they may be able to do for you and give them your price range. Be SURE To say you are a PSer and you want PS quality stones.

Can't hurt to make a phone call and just ask, right? ;))

thanks for the suggestion! Still can't convince the lady to let me return the ring though so I guess I'll let it go. hopefully I can replace the 2 stones that bug me at some point, although I wonder how difficult it is to match a stone? I have seen rings with obvious carbon spots at places like Sears (yeah I looked in Sears i deserve punishment) and it was horrifying. This ring is not like that, you have to look really close at the right angle. So I guess I'll live! Thanks for the feedback all
