Just purchased a thin eternity band from LOGR.... opinion?

Re: Just purchased a thin eternity band from LOGR.... opinio

If looking for PS diamond and workmanship quality, don't expect anything below $1000 from the usual recommended vendors.

For an eternity ring that's less than .25 ct??
I didn't realize how pricey such small E bands are!
I know it's off topic, but I was quoted below $1,800 for a eternity band at 1.60 tcw, by 1DJ!!
How weird!!

Re: Just purchased a thin eternity band from LOGR.... opinio

IDJ seems hit and miss with their diamond quality and when it comes to eternity bands, most of the cost is in the labour when the diamonds are teeny tiny. When I was referring to often recommended vendors, I meant WF, ERD and BGD with super ideal cut melees and impecabble metal work that can handle intense scrutiny even under high magnification. To me, that is considered PS quality by most of the regulars. The diamonds sparkle beyond comparison and the workmanship quality is very high that your chances of losing a melee is extremely low, even under daily wear. When moving upwards to handforged, pricing goes up even higher.

I went to WF's website and found a stock 14K WG eternity ring with 0.4 ctw for $995. BGD's pricing is very similar.

Have you checked out Blue Nile and Adiamor.com for pave bands? When I was shopping, I found their prices to be pretty good. Also try James Allen.

Re: Just purchased a thin eternity band from LOGR.... opinio

The diamond look dull not only because of the clarity but also because of the cut quality.

I think if you increased your budget to about $600 you could likely find a used brand name on ebay if you looked, or on preloved perhaps.

I am waiting to hear back from LOGR to see how much the upgrade would cost.

The lousy ring I got with 'I' quality diamonds was $289 (not $279 as I previously posted).

So if it's an extra $90 as someone else had mentioned to upgrade the stones, I hardly think it's a very good deal. What do you think?

I don't think it's a bad deal for the price. I'm guessing it'll be around $350 or so with the upgraded stones. Those tiny little eternity bands generally run anywhere between 7-900 for well cut stones. It's not the diamond size that is costing you, as I am sure has been mentioned, but the work involved with all those tiny little stones.

The band is now listed for $250:

So I would just contact them off of this listing and ask if they will take a best offer of $325 for this band with upgraded stones. And then just return the other one for a full refund (I believe you can return it to their Boston office so the shipping isn't too bad at all).

You will likely not find an eternity band like this anywhere for cheaper and if you want PS quality stones, I think Bastecat is right that you will pay at least $700. I agree that they are stupidly expensive for so little metal and diamonds and that is why I will only purchase them if I find a decent price on eBay.

Re: Just purchased a thin eternity band from LOGR.... opinio

It's $289.90 for a size 5.5 but I would definitely make an offer and see what they say.

If you're not in a hurry, I'd agree with this, and don't settle unless you get exactly what you want. I got a thin eternity in 18K WG with very white and sparkly diamonds for $199 on ebay. I love it.

Re: Just purchased a thin eternity band from LOGR.... opinio

The base price is $249, but for a 5.5 sized band, it goes up to $289, which is understandable..

Anyway, I will still be on the lookout, and you are all right, anywhere around $350 is pretty reasonable.

TravelingGal,
Can you post a link to it? My ring size is 5.5.

It was a one off - private seller.

Re: Just purchased a thin eternity band from LOGR.... opinio

Hi, just a quick update on this band:

I sent it out today to be returned. I am very dissapointed in the fact that, not only did I have to pay for shipping for something that was inaccurately described, but I was told to also pay for insurance!

I am not planning on leaving them good feedback.

Re: Just purchased a thin eternity band from LOGR.... opinio

I recently got 2 S. Kashi 1.5mm (ish) bands and i'm happy with their quality. They run around $700 depending on the vendor

Re: Just purchased a thin eternity band from LOGR.... opinio

Nyc2chigal,
I think a neutral feedback would be fair. It is normal procedure for the buyer to absorb the cost of the shipping, which I disagree that the item is inaccurately described. SI means slightly included which one should expect to see stuff in the melees. On Pricescope, this isn't the case but most other places, never expect to see eye clean SI melees, especially when the price is that low.

Ditto. Not much more to be said.

I do think you are really caught up in what your opinion of SI is rather than what reality tends to be, despite what people have said repeatedly in this thread about what to expect from SI quality stones. I don't think you were "had" on the auction especially based on the price, but people do what they do on Ebay. All the seller has a right to do is block you from ever bidding again, which I doubt you'd ever do anyway.

Re: Just purchased a thin eternity band from LOGR.... opinio

I agree that this is not a case for negative feedback since people said on the first page of the thread that you have to upgrade the melee with this vendor to get decent stones. You simply aren't going to get a $1k ring for $300, no way. SI always means there is the potential for visible inclusions. I would only give negative feedback if I ordered VS and it had visible inclusions.

Re: Just purchased a thin eternity band from LOGR.... opinio

I never said I was going to give them a negative review. :?
I just won't leave them good feedback.

I am very aware of what SI truly is.
I asked them prior to even purchasing the ring if SI truly means SI (slightly included). They confirmed yes.
When I received it, and took it to a jeweler to look at, and compared it to other SI bands. Not even close.
What stinks about Ebay is the dishonesty I see on there. When I contacted LOGR about the quality they responded "The Clarity we gave it is subjective".

Well then, I guess I can call a used tissue new, because it doesn't have that many boogers in it.
Clarity shouldn't be based on opinion, it should be a standard. Apparently not.

No wonder I view most jewelers as greasy car salesmen.

Re: Just purchased a thin eternity band from LOGR.... opinio

There is no universal standard on clarity. Even from lab to lab, the standard varies.

Yep. Very true.

Re: Just purchased a thin eternity band from LOGR.... opinio

I guess I don't understand because you needed to upgrade to VS if you were having an expectation for eyeclean stones. We have even seen items from popular PS vendors that had non-eyeclean SI stones, so I would only order VS from any vendor if clarity was important to me, which it is.
