Just one single holy grail...and sell off the rest

One ring to rule them all?
Most unlikely, I do excess to excess.
I’d have trouble limiting myself to 20 favourite pieces.
I do admire those people with carefully curated collections chosen with care and thought, I’m more like “oh, that’s very pretty, so is that, and that and that, oh over here there’s more, so so pretty. What? There’s two more floors to explore? I’ll put this basket down then and grab a trolley”.

LOL, this was me a mere decade ago. I must be part crow and the crow part would take over when I entered a jewelry store. CAW CAW SHINY CAW CAW and I'd regain consciousness in my car with a bag full of little boxes containing shiny objects which is how I ended up with so much that I didn't wear but was so pretty to look at and SHINY CAW CAW CAW.

Thank you so much for saying this @Matata and @Bron. I’m terrible with this. You would think for a large purchase one would take a minute and actually think it thru. If I think it looks good on my hand, I’m sold and all common sense is out the window. I know I could find better and I don’t even care. This shiny one in front of me is it. It’s the one! Thank God I didn’t take this approach back in my younger years while choosing to date men.

If I’m helping a younger person find a diamond. It an entirely different story. I get two very knowledgeable friends involved and anguish over a few for days.

:lol::lol::lol:

No, I don't think about it, ever. I like variety and change my jewelry often. I also like to have jewelry in all three metal colors. I find that I wear my biggest diamonds the least often, and they aren't really that large, just about 2 cts. So I wouldn't buy anything larger as it would never be worn.

Same! I mainly collect small rocks in interesting cuts and colors and stick them in solitaires. The vast majority are under 1 carat. And my biggest diamonds get worn the least.

I don’t have many more diamonds left on my list to collect so now I am moving toward getting settings that I’ve always admired. The settings look good with larger center stones so these rings will have lab diamond or not-too-expensive colored gemstone centers because I know they will not get worn enough to justify a high cost.

I figured it would be fun to have one giant diamond ring with a halo, so I asked a vendor to replicate a setting I like and made it with a 4.5 carat radiant cut center lab grown diamond. And I always loved the Mon Cheri setting, but a ring like that with a natural diamond center would eat up my budget for everything else so mine has a 2 carat lab center. They are both really cool rings that I would still want if I didn’t have them but boy am I glad I didn’t spend all my bling money on them because while they are to my taste to look at, they are not my style to wear every day.

The only thing I have multiples of is bracelets. My rings, earrings, pendant and watch all stay the same. I have bought, sold and traded to get where I am and I thoroughly enjoy my jewelry. I can’t imagine having to decide on what to wear every day - lol!

Yes! When I was younger, I used to wear the same necklace or ring every day for years. It would be something that went with everything. Now I have a hard time deciding and don’t really have a signature piece.

No, not really.
Why?
I already own it.
I looked for YEARS for a ring strong enough to withstand me and also my style. I finally found it last year when we were visiting relatives at the Ann Arbor art fair!

Made by the extremely talented Sandra Matasick (I know I’m not supposed to recommend people as a trade member, but genuinely some of the stuff she makes looks like it’s fit for a princess.) She’s a 4.3 carat sugarloaf Malaya garnet (brilliant cherry red in her best light, very moody and has a color shift!) in an 22k yellow gold bezel, with branches of 18k pinkish yellow gold and 14k non plated white gold. After a year of daily wear, the bezel is scratched, as jewelry does, but the band and stone are still flawless.
It was also my first piece of real, fine jewelry. I spent all my “spending” savings and worked for three months overtime to afford her  Sometimes you just know when that piece is supposed to be yours.

I just gave my niece one of my diamonds for her wedding. It was once an earring of mine. She had it made into a pendant on a platinum chain. (She also borrowed my AGBF inside/outside hoops made by Whiteflash to wear at her wedding.)

I would give up all my jewelry right now if I could get rid of it to one person and get decent value for it. I don't want to waste time listing pieces individually. I spent many years photographing Lilly Pulitzer clothes and Vera Bradley bags and selling them on eBay. I won't do that again.

I hear you. If one person could just buy all my stuff at once, I might actually consider it!!

On the strength of this post I thought I’d “tally up” the value (eBay style) of my jewelry excepting the “good pieces”.
You know, just the 40 odd watches, the 20 bracelets, the 16 bangles, the 35 pairs of earrings and the 26 rings.
Yikes and yikes again.
Guess I’ve been spending lots of money over lots of years.

I would also imagine the cost of gold has increased significantly so that's got to be worth something!

On a side note, Bron if you're ever looking to declutter please let me know haha. I'd love a watch or bangle :)
