Great forum, just started reading threads after searching anywhere and everywhere on the internet for advice/ expertise. I''m going to be putting a down payment to secure the price of the diamond. I''ve been looking for a few months and think I narrowed it down to the princess cut diamond I want.

Cut: Princess
Carat: 1.28
Clarity: SI1
AGA certified.
5.98 x 5.89
Table: 73%
Depth: 72%
Girdle: Medium

I''ve picked out the 3 stone setting that I want to pair with it but the total price is really maxing out my budget. . . . which is OK as long as I get EXACTLY what I (and once she sees it) she is looking for.

First: Is this center stone too small for this setting http://www.engagementringsny.com/product.php?productid=21141&cat=115&page=22

Second: With a Princess cut center stone, should I go with the V-prong setting? She is in medicine and likes the traditional look as opposed to contemporary but there is sooooo much out there. I feel like the V might block some of the view of the center stone.

Very pretty ring. I think the diamond you are looking at would look great in the ring.

Hi Cpapi and welcome!

I take it you have seen the diamond in person as it is available from a jewellery store?

Yes, I''ve seen the diamond in person and it looks great. I was concerned with the H color but you cannot really see any yellow unless you look at it from weird angles or directly from the side. I was also wary of the SI1 but there are no noticeable imperfections even using the jewelers magnifying glass. I''ve seen the certification and the specs are pretty much what I''m looking for.

The total weight of the ring setting is .82 carats and its ironic that the diamond I''m looking to couple with it is 1.28
