Just got it, looks great, I think but am a novice. Bringing it to a independent appraiser on Monday.

What a nice ring!

As for proposal ideas, I was just in Las Vegas a week ago and went to the Liberace museum. If you two are into goofy outings like that, it''s surprisingly fun -- a proposal next to all the examples they have of Mr. Liberace''s bling would be pretty fun. They even have a picture of him wearing all his rings on his hands at once. It''s kind of amazing. I wish we had some of THOSE pics on here!

I have never been to the grand canyon, but I have a few suggestions for Vegas.

The first thing is that if you are going anytime but winter, it is beyond hot during the day, so you may want a nighttime proposal.
If you do want to do it during the day, you might consider the garden outside the Wynn, which tends to be a few degrees cooler that the rest of the strip and truly lovely.

The most popular is probably the bellagio fountains. They are amazing and there is really nothing like them. That being said, they are loud, always crowded and very public, so if you love isn''t into really public displays, I would not suggest it.

My favorite place for a proposal is the Venetian. There is a partially enclosed baclony on the front. At night, a hotel across the street has a fountain that becomes a volcano once an hour I think. The balcony at the Ventian is quiet, secluded and you can bring her there under the pretense of seeing the volcano. If I were going to be proposed to in Vegas, that would be my vote.

Grand canyon ideas - anything at sunrise. The sunrise is awesome at the canyon. I would plan to take her to one of the viewing spots. There are always people around, but not so many that you can''t be private too. Other ideas are around sunset, which is equally awesome. I just like the symbolism of the day starting and your life together starting, the depth of the canyon and your feelings for her, etc.
