My mom and I hit up all the best stores! Wow engagement rings are expensive!!!
Here is what I saw and found out:
1. Cartier was our first stop. My mom and I fell in love with a 4.5 carat cushion cut ring that was about $450,000.
2. Next we stopped in Chopard. I knew they weren''t known for there engagement rings, but they had a couple of three-stone ones, one was a cushion cut center, another an emerald. Both were around 2 carats and cost a bit under $90,000. What I did like is that each ring is unique as they do not mass produce the engagement rings like their loose stone designs...we are going to Paris next week, so I''ll take a look at what they have in the Chopard store there...
3. Harry Winston...I LOVE!!! There was a 10-carat, classic HW winston setting in the window (emerald cut with two baguettes) - AMAZING! But I really fell in love with a smaller, similar one inside: 3.56 carats, emerald cute, tapered baguette side stones, E color, WS2...$164,000. It looked incredible with the channel set baguette cut eternity band, 1.88 carats, $7700.
I also looked at the pave, cushion ring...they had a 1 carat that was I think $28,000. It''s very pretty, but EVERYONE I know who has gotten engaged in the last year has that ring!
4. Next stop Tiffanys...i thought i would like the Novo, but they only had a one carat, which was unimpressive (maybe it was also not great quality and color), although it does look great with the matching band - they fit so nicely together! I tried on a 4.46 carat, F, VS1, rounded emerald cute that was pretty - $225,000.
5. Last stop, Van Cleef. We weren''t going to stop there, b/c I wasn''t impressed with their styles online, but they had a gorgeous 2 carat, D color, WS1, cushion diamond that was $92,000.
Ater all this, it''s fair to say that my favorite cuts (and the most popular on Rodeo Drive) are the cushion and the emerald, although the cushion is very trendy right now, whereas the emerald is a classic. I think I''ve decided on the classic HW setting...now the question is do I get that copied, or go for the brand name. But my head is too diamonded-out to think anymore tonight
