I'm looking at purchasing an Emerald cut diamond that is E.G.L. certified. I want to know what your thoughts are on the diamond. Is it a good "quality" diamond?

Weight: 1.29 ct
Shape: Emerald Step
Color: I
Clarity: VS2
Measurements: 7.64 X 5.43 X 3.39 mm
Depth: 62.5
Table: 72.0
Crown: 7.9
Pavilion: 52.2
Girdle: Thin to Sl. Thick Polished
Polish: Good
Symmetry: Good
Fluorescence: Faint
Culet: Very Small

Does this sound like a good "quality" diamond? PLEASE HELP!!!!

:wavey: Hi,

The quality is nice, although it is hard to tell if I am not seeing the stone,I would be a little concerned about the color only because it is an e.g.l cert.Alos are you going to mount it in white or yellow ?
If you are decieding on white or platinum I would suggest to go with an "H" color e.g.l just to be on the safe side!
but most of all "shop and compare"

Diamondsman,

The ring is already mounted. It is set in 14 kt white gold. It has baquettes down the side of the ring.

Help!

:)) My opinion is still that you should go with an"h" color or better. e.g.l in white gold, the ring is not the problem.
how much is it?

Diamondsman,

The ring is $4500.

What do you think?

Tonia, there is nothing in these data that rises a red flag.

Similar GIA graded diamonds are listed in the internet for about $4,000. However, the trade gives higher discount for EGL graded stones and I found similar diamonds in the internet with EGL reports for about $3,000.

Assuming the grading report is accurate, the price sounds fair.

You just might want to verify it with independent appraiser.

:wavey: hi
I think you can do better by shopping internet sites!
is that including the ring? and what are the size of the tw. on the ring

Diamondsman,

The total ct weight is 2.29. 1.29 being the emerald cut center stone and 1 ct worth of bagettes that go down the side.

I have been searching internet sites and I haven't been able to find a ring of this size in a price range that I can afford.

I was initially looking at round stones but came across this one and it caught my eye.

Total price for the complete ring is $4500.

It is set in 14 kt yellow gold.

What are your thoughts now?

Diamondman,

I sent you a private message with my email address. I will also email you at the address you gave me.

Thanks so much!
