Am I to understand that you dressed me down for what I said, even though there is NO PROOF, only HERESAY and INNUENDO about the alleged incident of him slapping someone in anger??????? Somebody said it, it must be true???

38.gif
Holly, the woman who said it, who witnessed it (hardly heresay), is a relative of a POW. If anything, shouldn't there be some kind of kinship/bond between her and McCain, since he was one too? Why would she make this up? I don't think she is. But if you want to choose to not believe her, to not believe the emotion that is all too apparent in her voice at the utter dismay of how McCain acted, go ahead. Oh wait, you haven't seen it yet...

In the meantime, I'll do more digging when I have time. Maybe I can come up with something that will at least give you pause? Nahhhhh.

Agh, good ol' 'mostly socialists' NBC, haha. Watch out, John McCain is angry!!! I bet he even yells! Somebody medicate him, quick, before other people get angry, too!

GE owns 80% of NBC.

From corpwatch.org

"Enronomics
In their 2002 report, ""Titans of the Enron Economy: The 10 Habits of Highly Defective Corporations," United for a Fair Economy gave a "special Lifetime Achievement Award" to General Electric "for scoring the highest average rank across all 10 bad habits, the only company to outrank second-place Enron. GE exceeds Enron’s score by an astonishing 45%."

NBC is not socialist.

Who do you think owns the media? The corporations. Unless you're talking about an 850 billion dollar bailout--there is nothing socialist about it.

I have herd of McCains temper which is concerning, but what is more concerning is the behavior of the people at his ralleys.

There are reports of people yelling some pretty colorful things about Obama. Thinks like "treason, terrorist, kill him."

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/10/06/mccain-does-nothing-as-cr_n_132366.html

What is concerning to me is that Palin/McCain did not call that behavior out as inappropriate. I understand you can't always control the individuals at a ralley, but that does not justify allowing the threats. I know enough social psychology to know that ignoring this kind of behavior at the small level can justify it and lead to a more serious situation.

I would say this behavior has angered me more than anything elce in this campign.

Well, after all, it was on Oprah, wasn''t it? She would never have an axe to grind in this campaign, would she? Gosh, I better rethink my position of calling for actual proof.

Nahhhhhh.

In this particular case, what further proof would you need? Video footage?

Someone sent me info back in February when I was asking for proof of McCain''s temper. This was one of the links: John McCain Losing his Cool Watch the full 8 minutes. I think the woman did a fine job keeping her composure considering the circumstances.

did i miss a link with proof of him calling Cindy the name?
33.gif

No. You didn''t miss a link. We base our judgements of Sen McCain upon gossip, innuendo, heresay, and what Oprah said. Somebody told somebody about somebody who was friends with somebody who knew somebody who was there when somebody else witnessed the Senator telling his wife she was . . . .that. But there''s video of somebody saying somebody said they heard that somebody saw this happen.

Did I miss any pertinent information or forget to credit ''somebody'' for this important revelation about the Republican candidate?

I won't harp on this because it's off-topic, but I think you're confusing NBC for MSNBC. Microsoft owns 50% of MSNBC, which is why it starts with MS (the basis of my pun). My socialist joke was just a play on the acronym because MSNBC is known for being so liberal.

I just watched that whole thing. He didn't even raise his voice. They were in (obvious) disagreement, he was calling her out on her reports to the media, she rose HER voice, and then..........he excused himself from the room. SHOCK! HORROR!

I kept waiting to see the temper tantrum the video promises, and yet there was no yelling, no name calling, no flung chairs, no one got hit, no one cried, no one told anyone to calm down......................................

(p.s. I'm sure way more exciting things happen in congress than that. Especially this congress, I'd say it's the norm.)

That's funny--never heard of the "mostly socialist nbc" deal.

GE owns the other half of MSNBC, and Microsoft also donated a hefty sum to the George W. Bush campaign--still, nothing socialist about it.

Off topic it is--back to the original programming--McCain's RAGE. Which, as unfortunate as it is, is the least of my concerns in this election. There's much more that worries me about McCain/Palin.

Of all the nerve!! He obviously needs anger management classes. Bottling up all that rage (we know he has) isn''t good for him, and could lead to who knows what kind of catastrophic blowup!
38.gif
Really, I just don''t see how we could possibly want to elect a man this unstable.

I''m not sure why raising his voice is what you needed to prove that he had issues with his temper. It''s obvious in his body language and the tone he takes with this woman. The one time I noticed where she raised her voice was because she was attempting to fight back tears. She is extremely upset and severely sensitive because her brother is missing. She is speaking on behalf of many others in a similar situation. McCain could not remain completely calm during the process and got up several times to leave while she was mid sentence. That''s simply rude. He, of all people, should understand the complexity and needed sensitivity in this situation. He was speaking to a freaking victim. If that''s the best he can muster, then I find it pathetic.

Oh, and I don''t recall that the video promised anything you mentioned above so no refunds for you!

Actually, I said no one cried but she did tear up....but I don't think it was McCain's EXTREME FROTHING ANGER that made her cry...I think she just didn't like being confronted. Here is something I found while searching, although of course this happened in 1992 so it's hard to find out if it's the truth or not....

"This crazy woman's brother was MIA in Vietnam. Her sisters and her refused to provide blood to do a DNA test on remains that Vietnam said were that of her brother. Thus her brother's uncle provided the blood smaple and DNA confirmed it was his remains. The sisters though refused to believe it insisting that the government lied. They are all wackos. This wacko attacked McCain and claimed that 1) he and others on the Select Committee refused to investigate and were covering up for the government; 2) that he was responsible for the select committee shutting down. The truth is that the Senate at large voted for the Select committee to have a specific time limit and it was shut down after that time limit expired. McCain had nothing to do with it. This nut constantly made outrageous accusations and interrupted Senator SMith while he was talking. At that point McCain spoke up and put her in her place. She then began to cry though only someone unstable would cry because of what he said. The looney left has made numerous claims about McCain running to her and screaming neither are true. Here is the video of McCain:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-CazKanlYDg&feature=related

Final report:

http://www.fas.org/irp/congress/1993_rpt/pow-exec.html

Background and hearings:

http://lcweb2.loc.gov/frd/pow/senate_house/investigation_S.html "

ETA: I am luckystar112 and I do not support the "loony left" comment.

ETA2: Apparently the thing that made McCain so pissed was that she and her sister were telling the media that HE forced the lab to fake the results. And apparently they went on to start their own investigative committee and they were "tossed on their butts for being insane".

Ok, so you copied and pasted someone''s post from a message board?

And he was pissed (are we admiting this now?) because they said he had the lab fake the results? Well some McCain supporter should find that portion of the hearing where he brings this up and post it on youtube. His anger would be justified.

Oh come on, Republicans! We can argue all we want about the semantics of a particular incident, but there are many, many reported incidents of his out of control temper. So many that it can''t possibly be a "mainstream media liberal smear."

Do you really think that a possible President having an extremely explosive temper doesn''t matter? What happens when he goes bonkers on a head of state and ruins a diplomatic relationship? It does matter!

See, a nutcase started this BS. People start buzzing about BS and soon it turns into the gospel truth.

So, can we put this issue to bed now? Or do we need more refuting, more videos, more reports?

You c''mon.

He''s been a Senator for quite some time. There is no reason to believe that he would ever ''go bonkers'' on another head of state. Isolated incidents of being pissed off happen to everyone. Even Jesus got a little testy at times, you''ll find, if you read the Gospels.

He''s gone bonkers on fellow senators, though. Why wouldn''t he do the same to a fellow head of state?

Just where do you think most YouTube videos come from? The mainstream media?

If it''s supporting your position, it''s the truth. If it''s refuting your position, it''s crap. Uh huh.

Don''t bother ... O''Reilly himself could show up beaten up, say McCain clocked him & unless the beating was on live television ... not cutting through the denial.

I can''t wait to vote for "that one". If some right-wing crazy doesn''t follow through with ever louder threats to "kill him".

You don''t find the sources Democrats quote credible? Hey...you can''t say no one tried to ask Mr. McCain himself about his temper. The problem is that they threw out the guy who asked him. A Baptist minister, by the way, even if he was reporting for a news source Mr. McCain didn''t like. Please note that the man thrown out wasn''t charged with any crime, either.

ABC article that talks about some of his run ins with Senate colleagues:
link

Here are a few excerpts from the start of that article. (Thank you, thing2of2 for finding it!) I had read this but I hadn''t recalled where. (I still don''t recall where; it wasn''t on-line.) I think we can agree that ABC is a pretty Main Street kind of news source, no? It is where I got my initial idea about Mr. McCain''s temper and that led me to read more.

Will McCain''s Temper Be a Liability?
McCain Works to Bury Hatchet With Those on Receiving End of His Temper
By LIBBY QUAID
The Associated Press
WASHINGTON

"Temper, temper.

Republican John McCain is known for his.

He''s been dubbed ''Senator Hothead'' by more than one publication, but he''s also had some success extracting his hatchet from several foreheads.

Even his Republican Senate colleagues are not spared his sharp tongue.

''F--- you,'' he shouted at Texas Sen. John Cornyn last year.

''Only an a------ would put together a budget like this,'' he told the former Budget Committee chairman, Sen. Pete Domenici, in 1999.

''I''m calling you a f------ jerk!'' he once retorted to Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley.

With Cornyn, he smoothed things over quickly. The two argued during a meeting on immigration legislation; Cornyn complained that McCain seemed to parachute in during the final stages of negotiations. ''F--- you. I know more about this than anyone else in the room,''" McCain reportedly shouted.

Cornyn chuckled at the memory of what he called McCain''s ''aggressive expressions of differences.'' The Texan has endorsed McCain.

''He almost immediately apologized to me,'' Cornyn said last week. "I accepted his apology, and as far as I''m concerned, we''ve moved on down the road."

The political landscape in Arizona, McCain''s home state, is littered with those who have incurred his wrath. Former Gov. Jane Hull pretended to hold a telephone receiver away from her ear to demonstrate a typical outburst from McCain in a 1999 interview with The New York Times.

McCain has even blown up at volunteers and, on occasion, the average Joe.

He often pokes fun at his reputation: ''Thanks for the question, you little jerk,'' he said last year to a New Hampshire high school student wondering if McCain, at 71, was too old to be president.

Other times, his ire is all too real. This has prompted questions about whether his temperament is suited to the office of commander-in-chief or whether it might handicap him in a presidential campaign against either Barack Obama or Hillary Rodham Clinton, who are not known for such outbursts.

''I decided I didn''t want this guy anywhere near a trigger,'' Domenici told Newsweek in 2000.

His irascibility fits with McCain''s proud image as a straight talker willing to say what people don''t want to hear.

Yet McCain''s temper hinders his efforts to make peace with his critics and rally Republicans behind his candidacy for president. That could be a big problem, because his most persistent foes conservative radio hosts like Rush Limbaugh and Focus on the Family founder James Dobson talk to tens of millions of people each day.

McCain and his advisers insist the acrimony is about matters of policy: ''We have disagreements on specific issues from time to time,'' McCain recently said of his critics.

In fact, the disputes often are as much about style as they are about substance.

McCain''s tone was certainly on Dobson''s mind when he issued a stinging anti-endorsement on Super Tuesday. He mentioned various issues, but Dobson also said the senator ''has a legendary temper and often uses foul and obscene language.''"

Oh come on, Republicans! We can argue all we want about the semantics of a particular incident, but there are many, many reported incidents of his out of control temper. So many that it can''t possibly be a ''mainstream media liberal smear.''

Do you really think that a possible President having an extremely explosive temper doesn''t matter? What happens when he goes bonkers on a head of state and ruins a diplomatic relationship? It does matter!
Nope thing! The entire matter has been settled by one dude on another message board. Screw all of the reports and eye witnesses! A dude on a message board has solved this mystery!

laugh

loud

seriously.
I wasn''t trying to pass it off as truth, I was just offering another perspective. I''m still trying to find more information on this. And my opinion on the video still stands that it was tame to say the least.
