You know, lately I've been questioning whether or not I'd really like to have children. If I were a more spiritual person I may take this as a sign.

Have I told anyone here that I once won an ugly baby contest? It's true. Once upon a time, 20 English teachers submitted their worst baby pictures and voted on the ugliest baby. The photos were anonymous so nobody knew who was who. One special little baby won by a landslide--18 votes out of 20. The only two people who hadn't voted for this particular baby were the grown up version of the ugly baby herself, and a guy who voted for his own photo and was thus eliminated. To make matters worse, the teachers' boss wrote in "Fathead Baby" underneath his vote, because he was so taken by this particular baby's *right* to the title of Ugliest Baby that he could not contain his excitement over such a hideous specimen.

The winner was awarded a blinking Rudolph the Reindeer red nose, a pair of school mittens, and a plastic mask.
Ha. Ha. Ha.

And as if that wasn't enough: About a week after the contest, the newly titled Ugliest Baby attended the first night of a new graduate class. Her prof persisted in asking her whether they had met before, because she just looked so darn familiar. After four hours of class the prof exclaimed "I've got it! You were in Mr. Schopp's second grade class. I taught next to him, I would have recognized you anywhere, you look exactly the same as you did 20 years ago!"
