I like the second one you posted much better.

the one by vatche?

Yes it is so classic. It looks elegant and is timeless IMHO.

I agree but one is priced at $1000 and the vatche is $3400

Well, Vatche's is a designer barnd - nice, but not impossible to match for quality or looks.

According to the price list for side diamonds at DCD (link) the sides would cost aboout $600 and there are settings like that sold ready made off catalogs (Adwar, Stuller...). So it does not sound incredible that the ring there costs 1k. If the seller of the center stone can provide such a setting off the rack, I'd go with that rather than order one ready assembled. That listing leaves me wondering what are those guys making a living from

And chances are that the quality of the sidestones (which always come uncertified) took the hit. Besides, the ring sold separately might not fit both the sides and your diamond all that well - leaving it to a jeweler to assemble your ring would likely yield a nicer product.

Now, it may be that I am overly optimistic about the price. With such a project on my hands, I would most likely call Wink (of Winkjones.com) among the sellers posting on this forum. He has made a couple of wonderful rings with small sidestones in the past, including THIS .

The Vatche ring has all stones set in basket settings... whick looks better than the peg head of the "warehouse" setting. The baskets allow the three diamonds to be lined up across the finger, the other kind leaves a huge gap between pear sides and center. The basket setting needs to fit the stones closely though, while the other does not - so empty settings can be sold bulk. This does not mean that a jeweler cannot get a basket setting and have it fitted with diamonds for you - it is not a "custom" ring made from scratch for a good load of cash, but one assembled from mostly ready made pieces. A good finish would make up for allot of whatever difference there might be between the branded version and a seriously cheaper one. IMO, the option of having such a piece assembled is worth investigating.

Just a random idea, of course.
