Hello! I used to post on here years ago, and I have a question. I've moved to Maryland, and I need to get my rings resized. I'd like to find someone local who does platinum work in-house, if possible. I ran a zip-code search on here, but about 30 places came up and since I'm new to the area I don't even know where to start. I'm closest to Columbia/Laurel but could drive to Baltimore or DC if someone highly recommended a place. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks!!

I have heard radcliffe in towson is good.

I live near Columbia and I drive out to Quest, which is in Fairfax, VA. It's about a 45 min drive, but well worth it in my opinion. They do great work, both custom, and otherwise, and are highly recommended on these boards. Pete is one of the brothers that own it, and he has always been very accomodating and reasonably priced for all repair work. Good luck.

Metromom, have you had any experience doing custom work with Quest?

I second the recommendation for Quest. They custom made a new platinum head for my ering, which you see as my avatar. My story is here:

If you go with Quest, please come back and let us know how they did to contribute to our knowledge about them. Pete at Quest told me that they have a laser welder, which should make it possible to resize even eternity rings.

I've purchased a lot of items from Quest, some custom-made and some not. I've bought 2 eternity rings from them and they were able to size them, but they did have to put in a small sizing bar for one of them b/c of the pattern of the ring. The other one has an alternating bezel-marquise pattern and when they sized it, they had to put two round bezels together.

Pregcurious, yes, I had my engagement ring reset custom made by them. They did an amazing job. Original thread is here:

metromom I just clicked on your thread...beautiful ring!!

I am a Quest fan but I recently had some work done at May Jewelers at Tyson's Corner and was very happy with them and their turn around time (1 hour).

One of my clients just told me about May Jewelers. As I was admiring her round halo, she informed me that it was a custom creation from May's and she only had nice things to say about them. I thought the ring was stunning, and one of the prettiest round center stones I have ever seen.

Thanks, Metromom. Your ring is beautiful!

Thanks all! I had heard of Quest before and didn't realize they're in the area! I may try the Towson one since I'm pretty far from Fairfax, but will definitely call them both. Thanks again!

One more to add to your list Dominion Jewelers in downtown Falls Church. They are fairly priced, quick and they do beautiful work. It is fun to watch them at work too.
