Hello all, I have a question about an engagement ring. I am planning on proposing to my girlfriend in the next few weeks, and I have the engagement ring/wedding band (soldered together) of my late grandmother. The rings are made of platinum, and each band has two diamonds set in them, one on each side of the 2 carat diamond. Also, the ring is currently a size 7, but my girlfriend's finger is a size 4.5. I went to a jeweler today and was told that the whole process (unsoldering, resizing both rings, refinishing the rings, resetting the side diamonds, and fully cleaning the diamond/ring) will be $450. I was just wondering if this seems like a fair price. It was a very pleasant experience and I do trust the jewelers there. However, I have looked briefly online and it seems that this might be a little pricey. Please let me know your thoughts.
