Hi,
I have this ring and necklace that were passed from my great gran who was born in 1897, but it is believe that they were passed to her from her mother or gran. Does anyone have any idea? In the absence of hallmarks that can identify a date or period to “date” a piece you need to look at the contruction, style, type of gems / cut of gems.
However to add to the confusion, some styles get replicated at a later time.
The pendant says Art Nouveau to me, that is the period 1890 / 1920, a very distinct floral style. The amythest and pearls were also popular in this period.
The ring I feel is more modern, it is not European (no hallmarks) it is marked “foreign” meaning it was probably imported from an Asian or Middle Eastern region (maybe India). It Is sterling silver with an amythest and marcasites halo.

Thank you very much for the info, would you (or anyone else) be able to give me a value for the pendant roughly?

It’s probably English (9 ct hallmark) if the chain is likewise 9ct gold or higher, around $800 to actually “sell” I’d say. Definitely worth much more as a piece of jewellery than “scrap”.
