Need help AGAIN....plz.
Just called a local jeweler (hi-end)asking for Sarin measurents on a specific stone that we'd seen earlier in the day. He did give us a copy of the GIA cert for the stone, but GIA not complete info to properly determine cut grade accurately.
He said a Sarin machine ONLY measures color as far as he knew AND that the color on the cert is listed as a G so, the Sarin would only confirm that it is in fact a G.
Stone is 1.70 RB
7.75-7.83 X 4.70mm
Depth...60.3%
Table...59%
Girdle..Thin-Med faceted
Culet...none
Polish...VG
Symm...VG
Clarity...SI1
Fluor...none
Price is 14,650
Any thoughts? and certainly his comment about the Sarin is incorrect or misleading?
Thanks!!!!

Well, as you know Sarin machine measures diamond proportions, not the color. You can find A professional appraiser who
can arrange Sarin measurements for you. Do you like the stone and how is it comparing with others?

Sunbug, the depth is not deep so it is quite possible that diamond has good proportions. Plus you like the diamond...Price doesn't looks bad for the brick and mortar store. But since you are going to spend quite a bit of money, you might whant to consider service of an independent professional appraiser - you will need an appraisal for insurance anyway.

Hi Leonid--
Thanks for the Sarin info confirmation---this jewelers card shows him as "President" of this business...
The stone was very, very pretty in the store anyway--hallogen lites everywhere though.
Seemed lower priced by about 1000.00 than the next guy. He (the President)says he is giving us his rock-bottom price and at this price he is making just under 15%. Seems like a great guy but after the Sarin comment,we are sort of leary of his honesty and knowledge.
Any more thoughts? Thanks!!
