Hi all,

This is my first post, but I''ve been browsing for a while. I''m looking for a jeweler for an engagement ring. This will be my first big diamond purchase so I probably need a place that can cater reasonably well to marginally knowledgeable people. I live in San Mateo, California and would like to find someone local so that I can go there often without too much of a drive. I wouldn''t mind going as far North as San Bruno or as far South as San Carlos. I appreciate any help. Thanks all.

A few PSers have used Topper Jewelers in Burlingame with success. Their website is here. I believe they made Slammie's wedding set. See this link about Topper.

Hmmm if you want to come over to the South Bay, check out Joe Escobar in Campbell and Derco in Santana Row (or Derco in SF)...

Oh and if you are thinking about someone closeby just for service and stuff, I got my e-ring at one jeweler in Aptos, my w-ring with an online jeweler and take it locally to Willow Glen where they have cleaned it, resized it etc. So you don't HAVE to shop locally just to get service...just an FYI. You could also find a stone online and take your setting business locally as well, Toppers does AWESOME custom work!

toppers in burlingame- great service and knowledge. for diamonds or rings speak to Russ or his father only. my wife and i did both of our wedding bands through Russ. I have a christian bauer platinum band that i got at a great price. but the best part was that he had it re-made(not sized because of the design) for me 3 times (with engraving) because my finger tends to change sizes in the summer and i couldn''t decide if i wanted the ring tight or loose- all done at no additional cost.
