Hey all,

Sorry if this is not the place to post this....wasn''t sure where else I should post it

Anyways I''m new to the world of diamonds and I am in NYC today. I thought I would go and check out the Diamond District to get a look at some diamonds and become more familiar with them (I really haven''t seen them up close yet!)

I was wondering if there were any places you all would highly recommend I visit (or avoid!)

Any help would be much appreciated.

And again, sorry if this is in the wrong section!

Hi Vash and welcome!

Here are some trusted vendors in the area, you would need an appointment with each.

www.goodoldgold.com is in Long Island if you can take a trip there

When I was in the Diamond District in NYC, I went to Diamonds by Lauren. I''ve been a very happy repeat DBL customer since I found them via Pricescope a few years back.
The owner (David) posts here as Rockdiamond.

Give them a call before you go, number is on the webpage http://diamondsbylauren.com/

They have some incredible things and DH and I were made very welcome, it was a lot of fun.

Not the place to buy unless you know what you are doing.

Yes, I agree with Bosie -I would avoid the street level stores unless you know exactly what you''re doing.

Phone some of the vendors who post or advertise here before you go - you might need to make an appointment, but you''ll be able to buy with confidence.

I really do recommend Diamonds by Lauren, I had the best afternoon of my life so far in their office.

If you go there, say hello to David from Mrs Mitchell.

Peter Larouche of Larouche Diamonds on 578 5th ([email protected]) just made a necklace for me, I''m thrilled with him (been in business there almost 30 yrs). But I strongly agree with the other posters that''s it''s NOT wise to buy from places that have not been recommended to you. There are some reputable dealers there, as well as a LOT of very sleazy operations.
