Hi everyone!

Some of you might remember me from the time I posted pics of the white sapphire engagement ring I bought for my gf ( http://www.jamesallen.com/products/item_63-1890.asp ) ... well it''s been a short engagement and we''ve been in the market for wedding bands.

I contacted a jeweler two weeks ago to special order a 2.5mm 18k white gold (nickel-free, with palladium instead) plain band like my fiance wanted. They said they would have it in my hands by June 30th ... they contacted me today and told me that they didn''t have any palladium on hand to make my ring and it would be delayed two more weeks (a day before the wedding!!!!) Of course that wouldn''t work; I got s*rewed over!

Anyways I''ve visited all of the local jewelers here and all their stuff has nickel in it. Can anyone recommend or tell me where (online merchant or local, in Chicago) I can go to get that nickel-free band made asap at a reasonable cost, and delivered to me absolutely no later than July 11th?? (I checked the list of advertisers here on pricescope already, and it was one of them that messed it up for me, I won''t name them though)

Thanks in advance!!!

Call and make sure these are nickel-free:
eweddingbands 18k white
or do all palladium.
eweddingbands in palladium

If you search for eweddingbands here you'll find several PSers are happy customers.

Congrats!

ETA: I think you can get them custom in half mm sizes as well.

Thanks for the suggestion, but they all contain nickel ...

I think you''re wrong? Palladium is nickel free. HERE

Artcarved.com - also has a collection of palladium bands. Authorized dealers seem to be EVERYWHERE...but I don''t know how quickly you can get them. I think mine took 2 weeks, but they might be able to rush.

purrfectpear & Elmorton - thanks for the suggestions, but I think there''s a misunderstanding here.

What I''m looking for is a 18k white gold band. Usually the alloy is 75% gold, and something like 25% worth of nickle, copper, etc. (I''m not sure what). Instead of nickle, jewelers can usually substitute palladium, making the alloy 75% gold, 10%? palladium, and other materials.

What I''m not looking for is a 100% palladium ring ....

Hmmm...I thought most WG is nickel free - I believe my setting is. I remember when we were ring shopping, I was told that WG no longer has nickel, which is why my ring turns back to yg whereas my grandma''s from the 1940''s is white white white (hers has nickel). I''d call e-wedding bands customer service and see what they say. I love my band from there (comfort fit, really nice weight) and they have great (quick) customer service, esp if you''re looking for a plain wg band.

Unfortunately most WG is NOT nickel free...palladium is still the underdog alloy.

I found 14K white nickle free 3mm band. It says GreenKarat could do special orders, but I don't know how quickly that's possible.

I''ve never had luck with GreenKarat answering my emails. You may want to try calling them if you have questions.

Since you''re now pushed for time have you considered using inexpensive rings and buying the exact rings you''re looking for later?

HOF uses palladium in their 18k wg rings.

Forgive my ignorance but what does HOF stand for?

HOF=Hearts on Fire. It looks like they have about a dozen retailers in the Chicago area.

How's the hunt going?

Hunt's been okay ... I ended up buying from a jeweler in the UK since (by law) their white gold does cannot contain any nickel. Costs a pretty penny though!!

I didn''t know the UK couldn''t have nickle in their white gold. Last time I tried on a white gold band here I asked what the combination was and was told that it was yellow gold that was rhodium plated. I doubt this was true, but after having a couple of minutes conversation to make sure I understood him correctly I was put-off.
