^ This is what I ended up purchasing. Just got it mounted last week in a plain white gold cathedral setting that I will have engraved next year. We got the appraisal today and found that our $900 JamesAllen diamond is valued at $2000!!!!

I don''t know how I got so lucky but.....WOW!

Just wanted to give props to JamesAllen - and those on the forum that recommended them. I was nervous buying something online sight unseen, but it worked out beautifully!

That appraisal value might include the setting too, probably does.

Is this for your insurance?

If so, make sure you check with your appraiser if it is appraised for insurance purposes for an internet purchase. Over inflated appraisal meant that you will pay much more for your insurance.

The total appraisal for the ring and the setting is $2500 and our setting cost $490.

The diamond I found was a right place, right time kind of thing I think. I''ve not seen anything else with those specs at that price. I would gladly pay a bit more premium to ensure I get as close as I could to replacing the ring I have were something to happen to it. That is a good thing to point out though, I could easily find a stone like mine for $1500 online. Over-appraisal can be a pain int the wallet but I hope it''s not an issue when it''s only hundreds and not thousands of dollars! I wonder what the difference in premiums is from $1700 to $2500? I will look into it.....
