It''s this neurotic number thing I have. I believe in numerology. I''ve actually decided to go with anything that totals 1 or 9. They are personally significant numbers. If it''s a GIA stone, I''m fine with the first two decimal points, if it''s AGS, fine with first three.

Hope that makes sense. :)

.86 = 8+6 = 14 (1+4 = 5)

It''s part of numerology.

Ok, so is it 1 & 9 or 5 & 9 now?

I''ve checked the other vendors too. I like the ease of bluenile and JA.
That''s fine, but how WF is not easy, I''m not sure. You call and say you want the diamond, you got it. Do you mean as far as settings?

I just mean ease of use as far as the respective websites are concerned.

What do you think of this?

Round Brilliant
Measurements: 6.86 - 6.92 x 4.32 mm
Color Grade: J
Clarity Grade: VS2
Cut Grade: Excellent
Proportions:

Crown Angle: 35.0°
Crown Height: 15.5%
Pavilion Angle: 41.2°
Pavilion Depth: 43.5%
Star length: 50%
Lower Half: 80%
Girdle: Medium to Slightly Thick, Faceted (3.5%)
Culet: None
Finish:
Polish: Very Good
Symmetry: Very Good
Fluorescence: Faint

Too steep in the pavilion for that crown angle. Leakage likely.

Thanks for the response! BTW, do you have the link for the HCL tool (I believe it gives you an idea of fire, etc).

Thank you!

The HCL says it''s a 3.6...that it''s a good buy for the right price. Am I missing something here?

The diamond above is what we call a steep deep, both crown and pavilion angles are too steep and deep to work well together, pass on this one as it will leak light and not be as sparkly as it could be.

As I said, the stone is leaking light, not the best, for that we prefer to go with a stone of <2, but if you are on a budget and want a big stone, the stone could be it.

What do you guys think of this one. It''s got lots of shine, but I''m told the inclusion in the center is HUGE and can be seen 5/6 inches away.

Numbers look good but not liking the loupe image, maybe an Idealscope image will tell more. Not sure about the inclusion though. Too big a gamble for my taste.

It has definite potential, any images for it such as Idealscope?

Pass on the one below, the cut isn't the best and I doubt it will be eyeclean.

the 0.91 I VS2 number looks good.

Thanks for responding, Lorelei and Stone!

I''m really considering the .91. I''m somewhat concerned about the colour. I intend to set the stone in an 18k yellow gold ring (with white gold/platinum prongs). What do you think? Will it appear yellowish? I''m also concerned that there is no florescence.

Please let me know what you think.

Also, how much of a difference is there between this .91 and a 1ct? I mean visually, once it''s set and worn on the finger?

hmm... you relax the numerology requirement?

Yellow gold should mask the color of the stone more. Ideal cut I color should face up plenty white. It is still a near colorless grade.

Size wise, ideal cut 1c is about 6.5mm compare to the 0.91c at 6.2mm. Should not be able to tell the difference unless you are comparing them side by side. About a thick hair's width difference in diameter.

No, I didn''t. It''s got to be 1, 5 or 9. 9+1 = 10 = 1

I think this stone might be it, guys! I''m waiting to get the idealoscope (sp) image for this. I''ll post it once I get it...but I really do want to order the ring tonight (what, with it being the 5th and all).

Ok, you didn''t tell us about the 1... :P

Will wait for the Idealscope image.

My bad! Yeah, I''ve been focusing obsessively on the 5 n'' 9...though 1 is fine too.

I am now looking at the settings. I love the choices on JA! Their prices are pretty good. BN has a limited number of settings for yellow gold (not to mention the higher pricing for non-solitaire settings).

:)

Do you think there will be a noticeable difference b/w the center stone (which is an I colour) and the surrounding stones if they are G or H? I''m looking at the pave settings and don''t want there to be a difference...

Nope, within 2 color grade difference is fine for side stones.

I''m having a hard time deciding which setting to go with. I''m hoping some of you will chime in with your thoughts. I''m looking for a yellow gold band. The budget for the ring itself is max. $900.

Thanks guys!

I''m looking in the sidestone and pave categories: http://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/settings-with-sidestones/?gold=1&sortway=asc.
