Hi again, guys!

We''re still looking for diamonds.

I was hoping to find some diamonds on James Allen and post their specs. here, to get your thoughts. A few posters mentioned this website, so I gave it a shot.

Talk to you soon!

They are good folks to work with.

Not a well cut diamond. It is what we refer to as a steep/deep--the crown and pavillion angles are too steep to compliment each other. I looked up the diamond on JA and the picture shows the dark ring around the table that is a result of leakage. Definitely pass on this one.

Thanks for the response, jet! I''ll keep looking. :)

It scores a 0.6 on the HCA so perhaps ask for an ASET and to see how bad the I1 is? From the pic the inclusions don''t look too apparent, but how important is eye clean for you?

The .90 H VS2 is a borderline steep/deep. It might be OK, or it might leak light, depending on which way the angles were rounded by GIA and how much variation there is in the angles used to create the averages on the report.

The numbers on the I I1 are good for light performance, you would have to ask someone at JA if it is eye-clean.

Are you are open to some here posting some suggestions? If so, we would need to know budget and what your preferences for size, color and clarity are.

Ditto Jet, the I1 might be ok but check carefully it is eyeclean to your standards and ask for an Idealscope image, JA don''t do ASET.

I am totally open to suggestions!

Our budget is about 4k. Colour b/w G and H. Clarity b/w VS1 and VS2. Cut must ideal. Carat is b/w .73 - .95. I have this thing for numbers...so the to total of the carat number has to equal 5 or 9 (i.e. .72, .86, .9, etc).

Thanks guys!

Hi everyone!

We are planning to buy the ring online tonight (my fiance is back from NYC).

I''m open to all suggestions. For me, like most others on here, cut is the most important thing. Our budget is about 4k (as I said before). Any suggestions on specific stones would be great! I would like, naturally, the largest stone I can get. Ideally, the stone''s carats will equal 5 or 9.

I hope I can find something soon. I''m super excited about ordering my ring!

Ciao.

I''m hoping to stay away from the lower clarity.

We keep waiting to find the "perfect" stone and keep putting off the purchase of this ring.

Thank you for your response! I''ll keep looking and post more stones here to get your thoughts. :)

Strange, coming from someone who is considering an I1?

Is James Allen the only vendor you are willing to purchase from? There are a ton of quality stones for less than $4k if you use the Prices link at the top of the page...

Considering an I1? I haven't been looking at stones with that clarity (unless I made a mistake).

EDIT: yes, that large ring...I see it now. I am paranoid about getting a ring that isn't for sure eye-clean. I'm trying to stay away from it. Thanks for catching that, though. :)

Ok, but with the number requirement, it will take some work. How many decimal points are you working with for your number requirement? AGS grade to 3 decimal points while GIA only 2 decimal points.

Ask Julianna at James Allen to look at the diamond for you and give an evaluation. She will tell you whether or not it is eye-clean, many SI1 clarity stones are, it is just always best to ask. Keep in mind that clarity is graded at 10x magnification so many inclusions are impossible to see under normal circumstances--unless you expect to walk around with a loupe all the time.

With the 5 & 9 thing, you are severely limiting your choices. If that is important to you, something is going to have give somewhere else--size, color, clarity, budget or time spent searching.

Equals 9, lol. Would get a 2% PS discount of the listed price. Nice company to work with.

I''ve checked the other vendors too. I like the ease of bluenile and JA.

How does .86 get you 5 or 9?
