I moderate a waaaaay worse forum than this. I am subject to regular abuse. People think they can say anything they like to strangers on the net.

No way. My attention span is way too short. Even if I only had to mod just one forum, there's no way I could keep up. Especially if it's one of the technical forums. Not that I don't appreciate it, but it kind of bores me (I'm currently a college student and doing tons of technical/clinical reading already). Plus, as others have pointed out, I'm a bit of a sarcastic hothead, and may have trouble being the neutral third party. I tend to stay away from debate topics, as I get far too invested if I do post (in other forums, anyway; never really posted in anything like that here).

Ha, I'd be willing to wager that the mods are on my side more often than they're on yours!

Maybe a few years ago I may have been naive enough to think I could do it.

But in the old days, I heard some backstories of what the mods dealt with. PS is a great forum...filled with people who I think are really top notch. But the stuff I heard made me think that you never know who you are dealing with, and crazy can brew beneath the surface.

I don't care to deal with crazy!

Let's see... within an hour or two, I would have to ban all of the idiots, people I don't like, and spammers.
Then, anyone that challenged my AUTHORITY ..

And, by the end of the day, PS would have no one left to contribute

I'd then probably have to ban myself.


I don't know how Ella does it but she seems to have extreme patience and the ability not to take things personally.
