Hello All,

I had a previous thread in December but thought I would post up a new one since I wanted to start fresh.

What I am trying to look for:
Carat: 1.0 or greater
Cut: Hearts and Arrows
Color: G or greater
Clarity: VS2 or greater

I am open to spending about 7k for the diamond and up to about 1k for the platinum ring. I want to get the best bang for my buck.
So in reading the threads on here, I've narrowed it down to two vendors. Whiteflash and Brian Gavin Diamonds.
Here is what I was able to find that I would like to request your opinion on.

Whiteflash

1.006 ct | G | VS2 | 0.7 HCA | $6926

I've numbered the image captions to match the order of the diamonds below.
1) AGS-10237010 | 1.005 ct | F | SI1 | 1.5 HCA | $6115
2) AGS-1040363310010 | 1.036 ct | F | SI1 | 1.1 HCA | $6314
3) AGS-10142208 | 1.011 ct | G | VS2 | 1.2 HCA | $6702
4) AGS-1040363310006 | 1.017 ct | G | VS2 | 1.1 HCA | $6856
5) AGS-1040381680035 | 1.063 ct | G | VS2 | 0.7 HCA | $6940
6) AGS-10250305 | 1.005 ct | G | VS1 | 1.3 HCA | $7464

I know I said VS2 and above but thought what the heck, lets put in the SI1 anyway just in case you guys think theres hardly a difference. My apologies for the number of diamonds and pictures. I just want to make sure I show you guys all the ones I am considering and receive your input. I'm hoping to get it soon to receive it by 2/5. Your help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
John

Can't really go wrong... get the least expensive one that has agreat IS and ASET I'd say and put $ saved into nicer setting. 1K in platinum doesn't really go that far. 1500 goes farther

Hi John

These are all great diamonds, I would find out which of the SI clarities are eyeclean to your standards then proceed from there.

Thanks guys! Will try to make my decision today.

hi Limerence,

If the F SI from BGD is the least expensive, is eye clean, and has a great asset I would get that.

This will be a gorgeous ring:-)

Thanks Bella.

Out of curiosity, how much weight do you guys have with HCA values? I know 0 - 2 is good, but does that mean the lower the better? So then I should be looking at either the Whiteflash one or the BGD #5?

No. The HCA is used for rejection, not selection. It is normally used to weed through many stones with just basic info initially provided in order to see which are worth further evaluation, this is then done with images such as Idealscope, ASET and trusted vendor/ appraiser input for final selection. Once you have images these trump the HCA results and with the calibre of cut you are considering with all the images already provided, the HCA really isn't needed. It is important to remember all HCA scores below 2 are considered equal pending further evaluation ( with images as above).

Oh Lorelei.

Just when I thought it was going to be easy.

Out of curiosity, I know its a matter of preference, but would you guys choose a G VS2, or a F SI1 typically?

-John

The clean F SI over the clean G VS - if they''re clean, they''re clean, you won''t see any difference going more clean. You won''t see the difference between an F and a G either, most likely, but there''s ostensibly a chance!

Looks good.

Thanks Stone Cold!

You will love it. I have a G from BGD, 1.2ct, and it is stunning.

Hi guys,

Talked to Lesley about this one as well as I might swap.

Considering
Diamond 1 - $7008

Currently purchased
Diamond 2 - $6940

Please let me know what you guys think which one would be an overall better value.

Thanks,
John

Its a .2mm difference in size, and one color grade difference. That *may* be a noticable difference in size if you held the two diamonds side by side, but it is not noticable on its own.

I would rather have the G given that they two diamonds are basically identical. VS2 is still a very good and safe clarity grade.
