Ok, so it is down to these 3 diamonds-PLEASE let me know which one you think would perform best! I have spoken to WF and they say all are beautiful, eyeclean, and face up white. I have asked Brian to let me know which one he would choose, but he can''t get back to me until tomorrow. So, experts, what do you say. I am hoping to purchase by the beginning of next week-and then the setting!!!

I''d get the SI2 (if it''s eye clean) and spend that money you saved on a killer setting.

Best,

Oh, they all look purty to my (uneducated about round diamonds) eye. The experts will chime in I am sure. But I think if it were me, and Brian didn''t have info to make one the obvious choice, I''d pick #1.

Good luck!

Ditto. That one gets my vote too, but they all look terrific!

Based on the numbers, those diamonds could be identical triplets. There''s a fairly significant difference in price between #1 and #3, so that might be a consideration. But I think this is a situation where Brian''s eye is necessary to help you determine which option is best. It could be that there are subtle nuances in performance and appearance that may influence you one way or another. One thing I would be sure to ask is whether one of these stones is a whiter "I" than the others and, of course, whether one is cleaner than the others. Without that info, I''m not sure how I would decide unless I just went with price.

#3 is my first choice if eye clean, ( looks like it is to me ), then #2 followed by #1. But they are all amazing stones. Have Brian pull them tomorrow and have him chat with you about them. Either way you are going to end up with a killer stone!!!!

Thanks to everyone!!! Demelza, that is exactly what I want to ask Brian, if one performs better than the others, because the numbers, other than price, are all pretty similar. I just wanted to see what everyone else thought!

Thanks

Agree with the others......any of them are beautiful.

Just off specs, I''d select #3, then #2, then #1. Having said that, I''d ask Brian which of the three he think is the top pick and go with that.

I opened the pages and the close up pictures and *just* looked at the pictures without looking at the numbers and the 2.04 diamond was the one that was the most symmetrical and clean looking of the three in the picture. The arrows just look crisper and more tightly aligned. So... that would be the #1 stone.

Whoops, on second thought, when I look around at the outter edges I''m wondering if focal depth is different on the stones. That #1 stone is a bit blurry.

Cehra,

Do you think that #1 could be blurry just from the camera. Although Brian did suggest #1 out of all three. But it does not look at crisp as the other two. I am making myself crazy trying to choose!!!

You''re making yourself crazy because you''re putting too much emphasis on a picture of the stone instead of what someone sees when he looks at the stone itself.

The data/images are great, but they are *not* a substitute for seeing the stone. If you cannot rely on his recommendation with ease, I''d suggest one of two options.

1) Have 2 of the 3 stones sent to a local appraiser and look with your own eyes. Yes, you''ll have to pay shipping on the one you return, but that''s chicken feed on a purchase of this magnitude.

2) Get the first diamond sent to you while they put your second choice on hold. If you aren''t thrilled with the first stone, you can return it and still get one of the other two.

I agree with Al. I''d trust Brian''s eyes and you already know by the numbers none of them are dogs. Please don''t worry about the picture. Heck, I just bought a stone with only the numbers and still haven''t seen a picture. Had to go based on the cert. and the vendors eyes. I have no doubts whatsoever that my stone is going knock my socks off and I''d be very surprised if you didn''t feel the same way when you see yours

All of you are right! I am going to buy this stone on Monday-I want it to be a bank transfer, so I have to wait until Monday. And if by a very remote chance I don''t love it, then really all I am out is the shipping fee. Please don''t hate me when I start asking about settings;-) I want the Ritani! Thanks again for everyone''s help!!

good for you

that stone will look gorgeous and huge in the Ritani setting..

Mssalvo,

Do you know if Ritani is only sold at Bailey Banks and Biddle and if I can buy a setting alone? I really liked the one sevensone had, but my nearest BBB did not have it. Thanks

Ritani is carried by many different retailers including our own Pearlman''s jewelers. Yes, you can buy the setting alone... but I believe each one is made to order.

Hehe, this happens all the time. Seven''s posts rings in the ering folder, and many times people think they are HER rings. Trust me Nan doesn''t have a Ritani ring. She''ll get a giggle out of this later. Pearlmans''s is your best bet online for Ritani. He has the full line.

lol kaleigh. I was thinking, as long as i''ve been here seven''s has had her big ol'' *temp* solitaire..did i miss something

..forgot about the SMTR folder.

So, lauraher...which Ritani was it??

Thanks everyone! I think I will be going through Pearlmans. I want the solitaire Ritani micro-pave setting with diamonds around the basket, the band is only about 1.8-2mm wide. I''m not sure if it the endless love collection, but it does not have a halo of any type. Sorry I don''t have a picture of it, but I have seen it many times on pricescope.

One other question-is Leon Mege very hard to work with if you are not local? He is in NY, I am in CA. I really love his stuff, but am not sure if it will work out-plus I need the ring completed by Sept. 30-that''s the day I get married!!!!!!!

I would call Leon and ask him about the time line if you love his work.

Worth a call to Leon. His turn around time is usually 4-6 weeks depending.

yes, check with Leon. many pricescopers have worked with him long distance. i asked the same question when i first joined pricescope. you can read my thread here

Yes, that is what I want. Is that ring from WF? I am going to try and call Leon on Saturday if no answer than Monday. I can''t wait for Monday!!!

no, the stone is from WF and they set it into the Ritani setting. it's mara's friends ring and one I've been thinking about for my own new stone. It truly is stunning.

So did she buy the setting and then send it to WF to have them set it with her stone? That is something I think that I am going to do. Thanks!

she did. I do know that when i spoke to Bill Pearlman about setting my stone into that Ritani he highly recommends sending to Ritani. plus, mara''s friend was able to buy the rings in the display for her stone which was about the same size. you''d probably have to have Ritani custom make one for your stone and your better off sending your stone to them and letting them do it. Butterfly had all sorts of problems when she had her local jeweler try to set her stone the first time around. She later sent the setting and stone back to Ritani for them to fix it.

So Ritani will do this-if I send them a stone they will set it for me in the setting? Do I go directly through Ritani, with the purchase of the setting? Is that safe? I was also thinking of going through Pearlmans, but you said he recommends just sending it to Ritani. So confusing-it''s kind of scary to think of my diamond travelling all over the place. Do I have to have it insured before I start this whole process? It seems like I should just in case anything happens to it in the process.

no, you can''t send it to Ritani directly. you have to go through a vendor. If you purchase the setting through Bill, you''ll ship him your stone and then he will take care of the rest. He''ll send it to Ritani and then they ship back to him. He''ll check it out and make sure everything is perfect and then ship it to you. You''d have to check with Bill on who takes responsibility for the stone during the setting process. the shipping insurance will cover it while it''s in transit.
