This is a cross post from colored stones forums, but it's more antique related. I bought this victorian brooch and came back from GIA as unheated sapphire, 6.10 x 4.71 x 3.73 mm, Crown Modified Brilliant Cut. The side stones are not diamonds, some sort of natural stones, however I didn't want to spend the extra $ to find out what they are. Maybe sapphire or topaz, GIA told me they are natural and earth mined.
I'm thinking of either 1) buying an old mounting for the stone or 2) creating new ring with 2 old cut diamonds or 3) creating a moi et toi with an unheated yellow sapphire, also old cut but oval (6.3mm × 6.4mm x 8.5m). For 1) and 2), what's the best way to get it done? Where do I look for antique mountings and how do I know if the stone will fit? What's the best way to get old mine cut diamonds? Would the moi et toi be crazy? I like the combo of dark blue and intense yellow. This is the stone below, in shade and sun. TIA!

I search on Etsy and eBay for old mountings. The vendors should post the size of stone that will fit. The depth is something to check because colored stones can be deeper cut than a diamond. I recently bought a mounting with a garnet and will pull it out and put in a sapphire.

Lovely color! Your sapphire was a good find.

I was going to suggest Ebay and Etsy too.
